* This week we were consumed with making funeral arrangements for my loving Uncle Leroy who passed on. m The services were yesterday. I wanted to share with you all a poem that I wrote for him. I also wanted to ask you to lift up his son Leroy Coleman Jr. in prayer. He took care of his father from the time of diagnosis until the very moment that his dad made his transition. He also buried his mom last year and had taken care of her as well for many months. He’s an only child. Thank you so much.

Think about it…if something were to happen to you today (God forbid) and you found yourself at the Gate of Heaven; what baggage would you be carrying that would prevent you from getting in. I encourage you today…to unload it. When you confess Jesus Christ as the Lord and Master of your life and ask him to forgive you of your sins; he is faithful and just to forgive you and to cleanse you of all acts that were not or are not in right standing as though they never happened.

Uncle Leroy and us went a long ways back; that was the family way,
We lived in and out of grandma’s house so we saw him day by day,
People will come and some will exhort: “I knew him very well…” and that may well be true,
But we can say without delay: “He changed our lives…” and he must get his due.
We remember the baseball bats and uniforms and the days of the big big game, willie_mays_photo.jpg
We remember the people and how well he fit in; but we cannot recall the names;
In his life, we saw him set and achieve so many of his goals,
We learned by watching to make the most out of life and this is one of the best stories ever told.

Now Grandma loved her “some” Leroy; she couldn’t wait for him to get off from the plant,
She didn’t mind that he was particular; in fact, she admired him for that,
Every Sunday for years and years, it didn’t matter where he was, or what he was there for,
He’d make his way over to grandma’s house and drive her over to the church front door,churchfront_door.jpg
Not one time was he ever late and I guess that’s why she saved him the best plate. (Oh could she cook!)
We learned by watching to honor and respect our parents, to Bless them and to be people who could be counted upon.
Grandma, Granddad, Snooky and John all passed on from this life,
But Leroy and Mama take flowers to remember them every holiday; they always did what was right.

We saw when God took Uncle Leroy’s hand and poured out His Spirit on him. It wasn’t something so obvious, but the compassion was never dim. The busy schedule had become more tolerable, the baseball and bowling had stopped, and now when you needed a favor and the pressure began to rise; if you called upon Uncle Leroy; his yes was never disguised.
What we learned by watching is that we cannot forget the ones who’ve gone on; God says they’re our tomorrow, if that’s so true…then I can’t understand the need for all of the sorrow.

One day Uncle Leroy had gotten some of that new technology; his son had bought him a phone, He didn’t know how to use it and his son was not at home,
So he jumped in the car and came over to see us, to get us to fix it ASAP, we were surprised to see him at the door as we awakened from a nap.
We fixed the phone and he went his way; we owed him more than that. What we learned is that “this life is but a vapor”; the bible says it’s so…the parents get to be parented, protected, loved and repaid,
For all of the love that they gave to their children until their last and final days.

Last year when we were out mowing lawns, I saw my Uncle rush by,
I ran to catch him and as I went; I wondered how I’d say Hi,
When I got to the car; I was out of breath and he looked up at me and smiled,
I began to ask him about Jesus and he quietly said: “In a while.”
I went back to my mowing and I felt pretty good. Patience was needed…I understood.
Not long after, we visited him at the hospital and he asked us if we would pray; he had never before asked such a request; it was indeed a wonderful day!
I know how Grandma wanted her “Leroy” with her in eternity…she’ll probably bake him a sweet potato cobbler sweetpotatocobbler.jpg and sit him on her knee. One day there was an opening and my sweet Uncle confessed Jesus Christ. It made me happy to see it because now his is eternal life.

What did I learn from all of this you ask; Oh, I truly learned so much, none of us can know everything nor whose life God allows us to touch. If you want to see him in your tomorrows; get yourself together and don’t wait. The bible says:: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to (the) destruction, and many there be which go in :
And it also says that: strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (MATTHEW 7: 13, 14) I’m proud to say that Leroy found the right gate! Don’t you wait until it’s too late!

(If you get a recipe that uses pumpkin spice, it won’t taste like grandma’s. (smile)

Tragedy or a Blessing?
by: Author Unknown, Source Unknown

Years ago in Scotland, the Clark family had a dream. Clark and his wife worked and saved, making plans for their nine children and themselves to travel to the United States. It had taken years, but they had finally saved enough money and had gotten passports and reservations for the whole family on a new liner to the United States.

The entire family was filled with anticipation and excitement about their new life. However, seven days before their departure, the youngest son was bitten by a dog. The doctor sewed up the boy but hung a yellow sheet on the Clarks’ front door. Because of the possibility of rabies, they were being quarantined for fourteen days.

The family’s dreams were dashed. They would not be able to make the trip to America as they had planned. The father, filled with disappointment and anger, stomped to the dock to watch the ship leave – without the Clark family. The father shed tears of disappointment and cursed both his son and God for their misfortune.

Five days later, the tragic news spread throughout Scotland – the mighty Titanic had sunk. The unsinkable ship had sunk, taking hundreds of lives with it. The Clark family was to have been on that ship, but because the son had been bitten by a dog, they were left behind in Scotland.

When Mr. Clark heard the news, he hugged his son and thanked him for saving the family. He thanked God for saving their lives and turning what he had felt was a tragedy into a blessing.

Although we may not always understand, all things happen for a reason.

Two of You! by Elaine Davenport (Monday, March 3, 2008)

Everybody has two sides to them. One side can be seen and the other can’t. What can’t be seen is what you think, how you value yourself, how you make your decisions, who you really are, what makes you tick. You weren’t born that way. You had to develop and make some decisions. The decisions that you have made should include knowledge that you are a spirit created by God. A lot of people don’t know this; never realizing that God looks at the heart. God doesn’t look at anything that reflects who you are from the outside! He looks at your heart.

Your heart holds the key to your victory. It’s time to make some decisions. You’ve got to get into the Word of God and see what God says about you. Adopt God’s plan. You were fearfully made to be beautiful. You can’t buy it; you’ve got to develop it and it’s inside not outside. You’ve got two sides and one of them…holds your Blessing! Don’t be deceived!

DO YOU SEE THE CUTE LITTLE GIRL IN THE PICTURE? WELL, HER NAME IS JEWEL STRONG AND SHE’S MISSING! WE’RE ASKING YOU TO PASS THE WORD AND TO PRAY FOR THIS LITTLE BABY AND HER FAMILY! PLEASE DO NOT PUT THIS OFF! START ASKING PEOPLE: “WHERE IS JEWEL STRONG?” Let’s put some pressure on these people and let’s pray about it! We don’t know who they are…yet. But God can reveal it! If we are relentless in our prayers and our verbal sincerity; there will be a breakthrough! Satan always hopes we’ll jump on a cause and run out of steam. Don’t run out of steam for Jewel Strong and her family…please.

***Do you know about the power of 10? Well it simply means that if you tell ten people about something that’s important; we as a collective have the ability to reach an unlimited number of people from all over; not just from one place. This family needs our help and I’m counting on you to stop and ask yourself what you can do to help. Please come up with a good answer. Smile…

The email came and I had seen it before. It had touched my heart the last time. I get so much email I checked Google to make sure that it wasn’t a hoax. THIS IS THE SNOPES LINK HERE REGARDING THE STORY; I’M NOT SAYING THAT I NECESSARILY BELIEVE “THEIR” CONCLUSION…I TRUST GOD THAT THERE WILL BE RESTORATION FOR THIS FAMILY AT THIS POINT.

When I found out that it wasn’t (a hoax); I said a prayer and I “meant” to do more, but I didn’t know what. I have a full schedule; a full plate and it just got past me. Boom! Not two weeks later, I get another email. This time it’s from my brother. He thinks like me so I paid attention to it. He rarely sends me an email. I PAID ATTENTION.

Here’s the Email:

Jewel was abducted from the beach in Panama City during a busy holiday weekend, May 28th, 2006, while visiting with grandparents and other family members. There was a disruption in the jetty area (AKA “kiddie pool”) of the beach causing a distraction and her abducters took her in the midst of this confusion.

Jewel was last seen in Jacksonville, Florida 8/18/2007 and 3/8/2007. On both instances, video surveillance was recovered. Jewel was in the company of African American women probably in their late 20’s to 30’s. These women are large-framed women. Jewel now has a fuller frame but looks very much the same.

We love you, appreciate you and THANK GOD FOR YOU!

$15,000 Reward
“The Stop the Violence Movement (AE Music Group, LLC, God’s Pod Outreach Ministry, Inc. & The Chestnut Brothers)” is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the safe return of Jewel Strong; as well as a $1,000 BOUNTY for information leading to the arrest and conviction of EACH PERSON responsible for her kidnapping. A law firm out of Miami, Florida has added an additional $10,000 to this reward. (PLEASE PASS THE WORD!)

The Lottery Curse ! by Elaine Davenport (Tuesday, February 26, 2008)

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6: 33

It has been well documented that people who hit the Lottery generally have bad things happen to them, Yet so many people (Sources say) continue to play the Lottery and gamble with their discretionary income and too often their bill monies. I can understand it when stubborn people do it, but I don’t understand when faith people do it. I really don’t.

Well let’s talk about some former Lottery winners and what happened to them. According to official reports Kenneth and Connie Parker hit the Big Jackpot. They won Twenty five million. For most people that’s much more than they could ever hope for. But for the Parkers; it affected their life in a horrible unplanned way. Their marriage of sixteen years fell apart within months.

Sources say that about five years ago, Jack Whittaker won the Jackpot. His was different. It was the largest to ever be claimed in the history of this country. Three hundred million. He was extremely optimistic when he won. However, things didn’t go too well. He experienced great hardship. His granddaughter Brandi died of a drug overdose. It was reported that he was especially close to her. His marriage broke up too. In fact, when sources interviewed his former wife; she lamented that if she had known of the calamity that lay ahead, she’d have torn the ticket up. He was quoted as saying the very same thing.

I’m sure that you’ve heard the story of 20 million dollar winner Jeffrey Dampier who was murdered and kidnapped by his sister-in-law. Whoa!

In December, 2006; Wayne A. Schenk, according to reports was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. The treatment that he needed to save his life would cost 400,000. One month later, he won a million dollar jackpot off of a scratch off ticket. He thought that his problems were over. He contacted the New York State Lottery Commission to request his monies to be paid in a lump sum. Unfortunately, they couldn’t do that. They could only pay him $50,000 a year according to sources. With a force of friends, family, financial institutions and a state assemblyman behind him to change the law; nothing happened before he married his girlfriend and died.

Lottery winner Bud Post of Pennsylvania was nearly murdered for his money when his brother reportedly hired a hit-man to kill him in an attempt to get his cash.

Victoria Zell won the lottery in Minnesota but soon landed in jail after being found guilty on multiple counts of vehicular homicide.

And Texan lottery winner Billie Bob Harrell sadly ended his own life after out-of-control spending sprees and an affair left him deeply in debt and divorced.

* Daryl LePage, certified financial planner, on challenges that lottery winners face — “When you win a large sum of money, you would think that your problems go away. In reality, a new set of problems come in.”

* Michael Carroll on losing his family after winning the lottery — “In some ways I think to myself if I had never won, I might still have my wife and daughter.”
* Kelly Muncaster, Michael Carroll’s aunt — “Living life in a goldfish bowl, people are watching your every move and all the time making things up. I mean its destroyed our family completely.”
* Robyn Newton, winner of the Superlotto in California — “I still have a constant fear that it’s going to change us, but I think an awful lot of people would slap us down if we started to wander around big headed about it.”
* Wesley Newtown, husband of Robyn Newton — “A lot of people get into drugs and everything but you got to think about the long haul. We want to be healthy. We want to be able to enjoy our lives. Now when I see the fanciest car every driving by I think I could buy that. But I don’t want to.”
* Susan Bradley, certified financial planner and sudden money expert, on winning the lottery — “Everyone thinks it’s a problem they’d love to have. Most people don’t realize the complexity and the challenges. And if you don’t respect the complexities, you can run into some pretty big, big problems.”
* Susan Bradley on the best way to claim a winning lottery ticket — “One of the first things a lottery winner should do in a perfect world is not claim the ticket in their name. You can form a blind trust, and you can have the lottery winnings put into the trust.”
* Michael Begin, certified financial planner — “If you’re miserable with 10 dollars, you’ll be miserable with a million dollars.”

Despite all of these mounting facts; people will still want to win the Lottery, not know what to do with it when they get it and allow the money to ruin their lives. They’ll continue to do with the money the same thing that they see “a majority” of celebrities do; spend it unwisely with no great regard for those around them and many times even themselves. These people who win seem to have no clear plan in place; they just sort of “plan” to play it by ear. We’re praying for them to get some wisdom and the curse to end. The best plan is to avoid it all together.

I truly believe that Wayne A. Schenk was a victim of a system that’s out of control. I don’t expect this writing to be popular. But think carefully before you “wish” or even “pray” to win the Lottery. It’s not only a curse but run by bureaucracies who have decided that it’s a great revenue builder. It’s a gift if you win with no strings attached. They don’t require that you take financial counseling or offer you protection or advice based on prior cases.

There are loads of names and cases and the bad outweigh the good. My only purpose for presenting it is not to offend you. I realize that this is the world’s way of doing things. Some are overt with their gambling and some are covert. I don’t know which is worse. Losing is losing and it seems like even the winners lose.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6: 33

Overcoming Like The New York Giants! by Elaine Davenport (Monday, February 25, 2008)

No one thought that the New York Giants would win. They however fooled all of the Big Time Sports authorities; especially those that “call” the game. You see, they have a set of rules and they followed them and ended up winning against all of the “odds”

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1: 8

Don’t get mad at me! I didn’t put the Word prosperous in the bible…God did. I’m sure that when He did; He already knew there would be a group of folks who would be hostile to prosperity, another group who would misunderstand His intentions regarding prosperity…to whatever extreme. My task is to tell you the truth.

If I had a promise that I would win over every problem that I was to encounter; I would make it a point to remember that promise. In fact, even if I had a part to fulfill; guaranteed I would do it. I’m make it a priority and so should you! The above scripture is a promise and it has a conditional clause. I want to explain it to you; I believe it is a key to overcoming all of the obstacles that you face!

I was driving down the street listening to a message on my car CD and the above scripture was read. For whatever reason, when I heard it this time, it opened up for me. I believe that if we can take it and look at it a lot closer; we can unlock some doors that have been closed in our lives.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth;

ZONE in on the Word mouth. It doesn’t say this book shall not depart out of thy heart, mind, soul, spirit or sight. It says don’t let it depart out of thy mouth. In other words: “Start saying it!”

In this verse, it says meditate in this book of the law day and night. I’ll be honest; the bible is a book of the law, but so also is the Book of Joshua. I’ve personally been Blessed to meditate in both of them. (The Bible and the Book of Joshua)

that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:

Here, we are told to observe after we have meditated. Whoa! What do we do when we observe? We look, we think about it, we make criticisms, compliments, we form opinions, we make assessments and comparisons; but most importantly we make decisions. In other words we take it all in. (Like when the doctor at a physical examination says take a deep breath.) We’re to observe to do…that’s action…

Make a decision after meditating in the Word day and night and then examine it several ways as you think about it and make a decision to “do” something in accordance with what the Word says. Not what your friends say, your neighbors, your co-workers, your boss, but what the Word says. The Word of God is what God says.

I hear people say all of the time, I don’t know what to do. That’s amazing…here you have God saying…take a time out, come and spend time with Me and my Word and I’ll show you the way to success. What you don’t believe me? Well, let’s look at the end:

for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

He said if we do all of the above…we’ll make our way prosperous (health, wholeness, wealth) and next we’ll have good success. This scripture has 5 parts to it. Pay attention to every part and expect success to come into your situation. Then you can be a continuous overcomer every single time that you apply the Word.
