Prayers for Myanmar! by Elaine Davenport (Saturday, May 17, 2008)

We here at Cafe Sozo ask for your prayers for the people of Myanmar (formerly Burma). We are asking also that you pray special prayers for the lost, the dead, the families, the missionaries, ministers that are there. We pray for salvation for the entire land. If your heart is touched and you are able please look into seeing what else you can do beyond prayers to help these people.

We are asking for your prayers for the people of Myanmar. Tropical Cyclone Nargis hit on May 4, 2008 in that country and nearly 22,000 people have been reported killed.

The country recently experienced a junta in the government. Reportedly many feared the new group in power would shun foreign aid. Here are some tidbits:

* Myanmar is in Southeast Asia
* originally it was thought that only 350 people were killed; but now less than two weeks later the death toll is in the thousands
* Tens of thousands of people are homeless and water and food shortages abound.
*Roofing and building supplies are scarce and people are scavenging for food everywhere.
*This country was formerly known as Burma.
*The main place hit was in the Irrawaddy Delta in the country’s main city, Yangon, formerly Rangoon.
*Reportedly 36 prisoners were killed by government soldiers after a riot broke out after the cyclone hit. IT’s being investigated.
PRAYERS: For families, children, peace. wisdom, relief, restoration and whatever else you feel is necessary.

I am a born again believer. I am a Prayer Intercessor, writer, wife, mom, sold out for God lady! I believe that Jesus heals. I also believe that many people need faith information and prayer and this site will offer this.
