I get really tickled as a Blogger. Seems Word Press has over 3 million Blogs now and growing. I get a respectable amount of traffic…but if I write about helping others and poor people everyday…only me and my family will be visiting these sites…lol…and that’s real sad.
THIS IS SHOUTING MUSIC BUT MOST PEOPLE JUST DON’T GET IT! WE IGNORE THE STATUS QUO HERE AT CAFE SOZO!
See…people prefer to ignore those in need or at least pretend like they don’t exist. But SURPRISE…you’ve been tagged! You’ve been made aware that this is a human deficit, a flaw in our spiritual character…it’s up to you to “do” or not “do” something about it.
Where we live, as we ride in towards the city; we always see people begging by the freeways and near busy intersections. The signs that they hold may say: “Will work for food.” “I’m Hungry.” “God Bless You.” Yet, we’ve observed that 9 out of 10 cars ignore them. We saw one lady whose face was severely burned; another who cannot stand up straight as she was bent over from the waist. A very kind lady; it’s not our job to ask why she’s out there everyday. But, when we have money we always try to give her something. But WAIT…that’s not what this is about. On a side note, I’ve been with cynical people who always seem to have an “excuse” as to why the people don’t need our help. It makes me wonder about a compassion gene. I believe Christians have that…true ones that is. Not people who want to be in the limelight, but people who genuinely want to help others.
In the past, we’ve historically featured those in need from around the world and so far, out of thousands of readers, no one has taken the time to ask: “What can we do?” No one writes to say what they do or plan to do. Sometimes God will tug at your heart to help…but will you answer the call? Start small and work your way up. Enlist the help of others. Toot your horn: by telling others about what you’ve done or intend to do…perhaps you might spark a compassion gene!
We recently featured disasters in China and Myamar and we don’t portend to say that covers those in need; however it does beg the comparison of having more than 25X+ the damage and devastation without 25% of the help as 911. I try not to compare disasters…that’s murky territory. Surely, you all know by now…that no nation nor any people are immune from disasters. Also, I can’t name them all…the devil is too busy attacking.
If you’re like I used to be…you just let it happen without much thought until it hits home.
as Christians…that’s not our charge. It’s not about “us” in our little world, it’s about helping others. I don’t know if my words can turn your heart; but my prayer today is that today…you’ll start to see the world and the people in it…from a caring perspective as though they are family. You can ignore this…but it’s vital!
Matt 22:37-39 Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
