The Spiritual Hammer! by Elaine Davenport Friday, October 10, 2008

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ”. (2 Corinthians 10:4,5)

You need something really powerful today! If you’re like most people; no matter where in the world that you live you may be facing any of the following:

Eviction notices, foreclosures, health problems, aches, pains, depression, harassment, adultery, can’t find a job, phobias, can’t pay bills, tired of being alone, paranoia…the list goes on.

Spouse in ill health, no family support, gang oppression, lousy schools, bad neighborhood, poor or non existent relationships, pressure all around…what to do?

HELP IS SO CLOSE…SO CLOSE!

What you have to do is to stir up your faith! No doubt about it.

You have some tools to help you fight! In the natural it won’t make sense…but just try them…God gave every man, every woman a measure of faith…the bible says so.

Use these tools:

PRAISE: “Out of the mouths of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of your enemies, that you may silence the enemy and the avenger.” (Psalm 8:2).

THE BLOOD OF JESUS

THE WORD OF OUR TESTIMONY

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (Revelation 12:11—NIV)

PRAYER James 5:16-18 declares, “…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.”

THE NAME OF JESUS! Philippians 2:9-11: “Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Now, all of these weapons coupled with your faith forms a mighty hammer and you can crush any obstacle that comes against you and don’t you forget it!

Are You Getting Off Track! by Elaine Davenport Thursday, October 9, 2008

You shall not commit adultery.

That commandment above looks pretty simple but if one isn’t careful; one could get snared!

Listen to this: A woman being supported by her husband was abandoned by him. He left her for another woman. Months passed by. The wife soon found a male friend who began to help her. She eventually took two jobs and was looking for a third. The boyfriend moved in with her. One day she came home from work and he was trying to help a woman escape the house without interacting with her. In the meantime, her husband is “thinking” about returning home. (now that she has someone else) She doesn’t know what to do.

This is a true story.

Sometimes it starts off pretty innocently…but you have to watch out for Satan’s set ups. You really do. He’ll attack you in any way that he can. So watch out.

Unfortunately, I’ve heard it a lot and continue to hear it and I want to invoke a discussion about real life circumstances that people get themselves into.

Marriage is supposed to be a permanent union between two people. Unfortunately, in these modern times it’s just a “status quo” move. Don’t get mad at me…I haven’t contributed to the divorce statistics…and yes…I know it’s hard.

There is an escape clause: adultery. If a spouse cheats on the other …the injured party can get a divorce…the bible says so. Now, there are a few spiritually mature (very much so) people who are able to forgive, forget and tough it out.. There are also people who just sort of drift and wait and hope that the spouse (who may have left) will come to their senses.

BUT THIS IS THE TOUGH PART:

What do you do while you’re waiting? If you’re wanting your marriage repaired and have forgiven your spouse…while you’re waiting…you have to remember that you’re still married. If you go out and have intimate relationships with parties other than your spouse…that’s adultery. And when you do that…don’t be surprised if nothing changes in your favor.

TOUGH TALK

It sounds like tough talk, like perhaps I am not sympathetic; but I tell you that I am. But, God has set some laws in place for your benefit and to collect on those benefits…you’ve got to be obedient.

SOLUTIONS

God can handle your problems…and burdens. If you look for a man or a woman to do this; you’re not in faith or in trust of God. Think about it, don’t get caught off track.
