Sipping SAintslp

God is a Holy God!    You may fool some of the people some of the time if you are drinking  (even if it is a little bit), or you may fool all of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool God.  Drinking alcohol is a lust, a distraction…who’s your God?  Be honest with yourself.    Why would God have you to engage in behavior that can kill you and deprive your family of God’s best?

I submit that we have an obligation to present God the offering of having a pure body that is undefiled.  Yes, an offering!!

I know a lot of people who are believers who drink.  They don’t think twice about buying or serving alcohol to their family or friends.  They may even take a small drink or two themselves.  They won’t get drunk and so they think it’s okay.

You don’t need me to tell you that drinking is a sin.   But, many might argue that technically the bible never says don’t drink, it just says don’t get drunk.

“But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.” (1 Corinthians 5:11)

But what about this?:                                                                                            \

“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature [the flesh]; rather, serve one another in love.” (Galatians 5:13)

or this?  :

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body,” (1 Cor. 6:19-20).

Imagine if it was heroin or crack and they just took a little.  It is so highly addictive that a “little bit would mess you up.

Alcohol is a horrible culprit, it is a depressant and it is addictive. Worse than that, some who drink it become destructive and lose not only control of themselves but also their physical and mental tolerance becomes compromised.

Now, I was just talking about believers…let’s talk about people who call themselves “saints” of God.

Saints follow God and they are close.  They are supposed to be the most sincere crowd.    The scary thing is that chances are if they are drinking they are undercover with it.  They are not going to come  out and tell you, they are going to keep it hush hush.  Yes, I have smelled liquor, beer and wine on the breath of some saints; more than once.

I once sat next to a guy who was drinking and was sitting in church on the front row.  I began to pray for him and have not stopped since that time.

There is sin in the world and there is no one who is perfect.  But, sipping saints are slipping saints.

THE SECRET WORLD…

There is a secret world that believers who drink live in.  They are tormented by guilt,  the weight of deception.  There are grave consequences for this deathly habit which defeats the spirit and enables the devil to keep a foothold in their lives.  They are torn by this bondage and their desire to be free of it.  We must pray for their freedom.  Satan WILL NOT have an advantage…we plead the Blood of Jesus over each and every person held under this yoke and the yoke and the burden will be destroyed because of the anointing in Jesus Name!   The bible says so and we believe it!!!
