When I grew up and people said: “I sincerely want to help you.” They meant it and it was often backed up with some actions. Well, the years have gone by and I often hear people that are interested in helping; but they never quite get around to it. A lack of sincerity is a dangerous illness and sometimes it can be detected in others; but always by God. As for judging ourselves…”we” always know when we are sincere.
We were taught to write letters and sign them, :” Sincerely Yours.” That letter was most often going to a stranger. It was our way of trying to be personal and letting the reader know that we cared so much and that our hearts had been poured into the letter; as a rule but for some it was an obligatory exercise and that’s what we want to talk about today.
Joshua 24:14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
God is raising up believers in the Body of Christ to send out His message of the Good News. He is only in need of sincere soldiers who can put their hearts in it and not out of obligation or ritual.
God is a sincere God. He says what He means and He means what He says. I often wonder if He gets that from all of us.
When the bible talks about being willing and obedient; it doesn’t just mean quick to say: “yes I’ll go” verbally….but quick everywhere especially the heart! That’s why I love the song: “Now Will Your Heart and Soul Say Yes?”
So, today I ask you to do a spirit check and then to make an honest commitment to passionately go after the things that God wants! Not, your wants but His and for some that will be easy and for others; it may pose a challenge…but I am sure it is one that you are capable of making! I say that you are well able to do this; but this must be the mindset, soul set, hearts set and spirit set for those who love the Lord. Please think about it.
( Webster’s 1828 Dictionary) Sincerity: Honesty of mind or intention; freedom from simulation or hypocrisy. Freedom from hypocrisy, disguise or false pretense; as the sincerity of a declaration or of love.
