Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with My victorious right hand.
The woman was so desperate for God. He was her only hope. She made her way to church. In her strength; she fought back thoughts to just give up. This doesn’t mean suicide for her. She would have been okay just to sit in a room and never give up. It wasn’t her first choice. See, she had done that once before. She was once paralyzed by fear. Those feelings just swept over her and she just decided that nothing could harm her if she stayed indoors. At the same time; God was tugging at her heart strings.
“How did she know?” Well, she had this irresistable urge to go to church. No matter how much she ignored it; it kept coming back. She was going to have to cancel those plans to lock herself safely away.
She found a way to get to a church nearby and it’s a fact…that no one spoke to her and she passed at least fifty people. Couldn’t they read the desperation on her face. She roamed from place to place…fighting back the fear that was knawing at her to forget it…and years went by.
From time to time…she would give up. But, then that “feeling” would come back.
When asked to describe years later she would only say that it was as though her heart was speaking to her non-stop and she knew that she would not rest until she found the right place…a good church home.
You see…the bible says:
Hebrews 10:23-25 (King James Version)
23Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
That woman; she wanted her faith to be strengthened; but she needed to get in position; she needed to “get” to the right place. A place where she could be healed.
A place of restoration
A place of peace
A place if wisdom
She needed spiritual food
She needed an understanding
She needed God’s love
She needed to know more about Him
She needed friends that were saved
Friends that understood
She was fighting all of her fears
This was the last stand
The waters were closing in all around her
Someone from a distant shore threw a life raft..
Way out it flew…
She caught it…
She was me. She grew.
