When my son was a baby and was sick; I rushed him over to his pediatrician’s office. I had to catch a bus and walk almost three miles and take off from work. My car was in the shop then. It was a good thing that I took him that day; it was the day that we found out that he was losing his hearing. That day was to be a pivotal day in his future. (Look at the title)
Also, when I was there…there was a young woman in the next waiting room. Her baby was very sick too, The only problem was that she did not bring her baby to the doctor;s office. (look at the title)
Your children are important to God. It is my prayer that they are important to you. So important that you will teach them to love God.
My pastor preached on this last week.
In Deuteronomy 6 God gives us a command:
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
We are not only to Love The Lord our God with all of our hearts, our souls and all our might; but we are to teach it to our children, at all times…like a broken record…when you sit, when you walk, when you lie down and when you wake up.
But wait…let’s look st the Amplified Bible and what it say:
5And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might.
6And these words which I am commanding you this day shall be [first] in your [own] minds and hearts; [then]
7You shall whet and sharpen them so as to make them penetrate, and teach and impress them diligently upon the [minds and] hearts of your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Our instructions are this is to be first in our minds and hearts. This says do it so much that your children are “whet” which means to make keen or more accurate, to rub on a substance…in other words by doing this you are giving them something tangible. Something that will equip them.
Some people might ask…why God would want us to do this. It’s because the mind of a child is pure. For those of you who are believers, you know how much better your life has been since walking with God. Imagine if you had known this from your childhood. Imagine if your parents had talked about God all of the time and not just some of the time.
You take your children! Don’t let the devil take them! You take your children! It is never too late!
