Communicating With God April 21-28

Prayer is a way of communicating with God.  It is a special language.    It brings us closer to God.  As spirit beings we thrive on that communication.  Prayer is essential especially if you understand the importance of faith, the importance of seeking God’s wisdom,  the importance of staying within God’s perfect will for our lives.  Prayer is key.  It is critical.

Mark 11:24
“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

Prayer is a journey into the unknown to get answers and it is always a successful journey.

Let’s look at some scriptures:

“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into
a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35

Jesus knew the importance of prayer.

Why Pray?

1 Chronicles 16:11 (NIV)

11 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face alway

Psalms 4:1 (NIV)

1 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

Psalms 5:3 (NIV)

3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

Psalms 17:1 (NIV)

1 Hear, O LORD, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer– it does not rise from deceitful lips.

Psalms 25:1 (NIV)

1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;

Psalms 37:7 (NIV)

7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Psalms 50:15 (NIV)

15 and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.

Why Prayer?

Because prayer reels us in to the heart of God, it brings us inside so that we can hear Him and not miss His desires for us!   That’s why.

  1. Hi Laine,

Amen. I pray because I need to talk to someone I trust with my thoughts, desires, hurts and dreams without being condemned or judged. I pray because without prayer….I lack direction. I pray because I want intimacy and the most important of all…I pray because I want and desire to know the mind and heart of God. Like Abraham…I want to be called a friend of God!

Thank you for constantly calling and reminding us the importance of prayer. You are a blessing to me…and many out there.

  2. All excellent points and verses. However, we must ALWAYS remember God hears His people who “obey”. If we are sinning it will block the true heartfelt prayer. And to know sin we must look to scripture to find it’s defintion (1 John 3:4) “Sin IS transgression of the Law”. If we are obeying His holy Ten Commandments, we do very well in His sight and He’s ALL EARS! Conversely. if we say “Oh, I have Jesus, I don’t want to hear about the Law” then God’s word says (Prov. 28:9) “If ANYONE turns his ear from hearing of the Law, even his prayers is an abomination.
