In Pursuit of Happy People! by E. Davenport October 8, 2010

People really want to know how to be happy; even if it brings them to a faith site.  The fact of the matter is…this should have been their first stop.

There is no happiness pill…but I know something better!

Happiness is good; but JOY is better!  Happiness won’t always make me wanna shout…but JOY will!   Just what is Joy?

I don’t need to pursue happy people; I just need to follow God’s formula for my happiness:

2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 2

WHEN ALL OF MY KEY PARTS ARE IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER…I HAVE JOY!

WHEN I THINK ABOUT THE GOODNESS OF GOD…I HAVE JOY!

WHEN I GO THROUGH TESTS AND TRIALS AND COME OUT UNSINGED; I HAVE JOY!

WHEN I PRAY; BEFORE GOD ANSWERS; I HAVE JOY!

WHEN I READ GOD’S WORD AND REMEMBER GOD’S PLANS FOR BELIEVERS; I HAVE JOY!

WHEN I REMEMBER THAT : “THE GREATER ONE LIVES ON THE INSIDE OF ME”; I HAVE JOY!

THE FIRST THING YOU HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY IS TO STOP WORRYING.  WHEN I GOT MYSELF A PRAYER LIFE; MY FAITH BUILT UP AND THE WORRY AND THE DOUBT MOVED OUT!

There is no room for depression and faith; just happiness and faith….depression puts the body in the state of sadness and God wants you to be totally whole and at peace with yourself.  Depression won’t allow you to do that…but joy will fill you up and give you a feeling far far better than “happiness!”

I’m going to list the qualities that people say that must have in order to be happy.   They are:

All of these principles originated in the bible.

1. Having strong faith

2. Having strong  Family and Friendship Networks

3. Being Safe

4.    Having a Heart to Help others

5.  Having A Job that We value

6.  Having The Ability to make choices, be flexible and move about

7.   Having Successful ventures and endeavors

8.  Being around others

9.Having  No stress

10. Having  Extra time

11. Being able to do what you love…education does not factor in

12. Provision

(If you’ll notice…having money is not directly on this list’; neither are the materialistic signs of the day…)

This is a great list….it’s got some good goals…but the list can be totally ignored and still achieved…if we do it God’s way.

Here are some scriptures:

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Matthew 6:  33

The following is a powerful passage…I’ve met many people and I’ll tell you that I’ve met few including myself who can truly master it; but we keep working and chipping awat…this is our guide:

THIS IS THE MISSING ELEMENT TO HAPPINESS:

1 Corinthians 13

Love

1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

You see…love…being able to express it, think it, feel it and think it at all times, at all costs is more important than anything and when we truly have it…we have happiness!

Whereas the object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith.
1 Timothy 1: 5

Love does no wrong to one’s neighbor [it never hurts anybody]. Therefore love meets all the requirements and is the fulfilling of the Law. Romans 13: 10

Don’t Worry Be Happy!

God Says Worry is fear…He Says Don’t Worry…Have Faith!
