Not An ACT of God! by E. Davenport December 25, 2011

Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, 1 Peter 5: 8

A while back, in a nearby suburb considered to be very safe, some vicious dogs were roaming around loose and came upon a woman and did deathly harm!  I was unnerved just to hear it.    I was also deeply saddened.  I could not help but to have empathy and to be angry with the dog’s owners for being negligent and careless.  Too often, I have watched Court TV and listened to owner’s of deadly breeds defend them by saying:  “They play with my children.” As a side note, a friend of mine who has a pit bull that she called a “puppy,” confided that she never turns her back on him and never allows her young grandchild around the dog…at all.  That said, you can imagine my surprise when the media zoned in on the response of the woman’s son who said:    Why did God let this happen…I want to know why…or something along those lines.  I immediately began to pray for his comfort and his understanding at some point in time of the true state of things.

See, God has no plans for your demise.  In fact, He has plans for good things for each and every one of us.  But He is not the “god” of this world.  It is satan.   This is his turf.  It is as though we are on a strange planet loaded with mine fields,  and harmful entities and traps that we cannot see.  So, we have been given a set of instructions in the bible…to help us.  We have also been given Yeshua…Jesus.

Man has a sin nature and satan; a fallen angel likes that.   His only requirement to join his kingdom is that one be like him and oppose, shun, disobey, and disrespect God.    I am not implying that this is what happened to the woman or that she was not a believer.  I am saying that there are traps, and schemes set up by the devil; we are warned as believers and we see it play out on a regular basis where people are picked off for no apparent reason known to us.  This was not an act of God; quite the contrary.

Psalm 23

1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm 91

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

I consider the above two passages to be promises and I read them regularly to remind myself and strengthen myself in what God says and to be clear of His intentions for my life .

King James Version (Jeremiah 29:11-13KJV)

11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Merry Christmas From Cafe Sozo! December 25, 2011

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)   Old Testament

An angel tells Mary about Jesus In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her. (Luke 1:26-38)   New Testament

Oh…The Christmas Story is a miraculous story of a supernatural event that changed people’s lives for generations and hundreds of years and thousands of years.  It marked a season of miracles; it’s truly a miracle season!
Christ the precious little baby grew to be a man of love and compassion; upon whom the Glory of God still does shine.

Our prayer is that the joy of the Season and the light of God shines upon you and your family as God reveals Himself to you in the coming days like never before and that you allow Him to use you for the purpose for which He hath called you.  For Christ’s sake…Amen.

Let God Elevate And Ignore The Hate! by Mrs Kee Smith Guest Writer December 18, 2011

When God blesses you or takes you to new levels in Him, you lose friends. It’s hard because sometimes the very people who you thought would always be there are the ones that leave. When you start doing what God purposed you to do, there are going to be people to support you, some to leave you, some will talk about you, and some will push you toward your purpose. You have those friends that will be upset and say you’ve changed. Truth is, you did! When you have friends that are used to being  in your life, they tend to envy things that will come in between your relationship with them. You may have friends that are comfortable right where they are, so instead of them seeking God for more along with you, they start hating on your progress. Don’t worry though because losing friends is all apart of the process.

When people are content where they are, they want others around them to be content too. They will cheer you on until they start to notice that you’re passing them by. Haters are cool with you being blessed until it starts to appear that God is blessing you more than them. It’s not that He won’t bless them because God will… He’s just keeping His word. His word says seek and ye (you) shall find. If you’re constantly seeking God, He’s not going to hide from you. He’s going to keep His word. God loves humility. When you show Him you’re hungry for more, He’s going to feed you more.

So while God is in the busness of ELEVATION, whether its on your job, your relationships, your finances, your ministry, or just more of Him. LET GOD ELEVATE AND IGNORE THE HATE! It’s just a simple as that….

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom…

Salvation Power!!!! by E. Davenport December 14, 2011

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes–the Jew first and also the Gentile. Romans 1: 16

We need to begin a campaign called:  “SALVATION POWER!!!”   People have no idea.  If they knew; they would stand in line!

Salvation…Salvation; just what is it really?  Imagine that we are not talking “church talk?”   We are trying to explain it to someone who does not go to church; does not want to go to church and does not have a clue; what would I say?

Salvation is the power of God when it comes forth in such a way it sets a person free from death and sin!  The power is available to rescue a person from the grips of sickness and disease and can CATAPULT that person into eternity…as long as one remains a believer!

What is man’s “power?”

It takes power to start a car.  It takes power to fly a plane.  It takes power to turn on a light.

It takes power to run a computer/  It takes power to pick up a small steel device called a telephone and make a call from Chicago to India by punching some numbers.  And so on and so forth.

What is God’s power!   Well, quite simply it is the force behind all of man’s inventions!  It’s the Wisdom of the “genius” idea.   God spoke in the Beginning amd created light.  Read the bible.   In the beginning God created the sea, the skies, the sun, the moon, the stars!

God’s power is greater than any power in the earth!   God’s power is higher, stronger, bigger, more powerful than anything we as humans could ever imagine.  It makes demons tremble when God is on the scene!   They begin to plead for their lives…read the bible!  God’s power brought Jesus back from the grave back to life and sat him at His own right hand in heaven.   God’s power heals the sick, saves people from danger, answers prayers…on time…causes

the Blind to see, the lame to walk, demons to liquidate and crumble and unseen miracles to burst forth in all of the splendor of God!   He’s Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lifespan Of A Faith Blogger! by E. Davenport December 13, 2011

First, let me say Merry Christmas, I love you.   I work for God.    Some years ago, I feel that He spoke to my heart to begin writing about faith on the internet and to pray for people as the requests came in.

For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of affliction, to give you an end and patience.  Jeremiah 29: 11

To be a Faith Blogger; you have to have an unconditional love for God and a driven passion to spread His Word.  You get your fuel from inspired men and women of God and from the bible.  You get it from everyday life, everyday peace…revelations and mainly seeing the Wisdom of God all around you!  God will see to it that you are in the right place at the right time. He’ll cause you to see things, to hear things, to read things to meet people!   He will teach you what you need to know or send someone to help you.  You will see progress if you stick to it.

His message must go forth; if He can’t count on you …He will find someone  who He can count on.

It’s clearly the story of the talents from the bible:

Matthew 25:14-30 (King

James Version

Matthew 25:14-30

King James Version (KJV)

14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

It’s a fact that trying to write to people on the Internet is a monumental task.  But, let me stick to the subject.   I was desperate to find other Faith Bloggers of similar beliefs so that we could inspire, exhort, edify and comfort ourselves and each other via the Internet.  I never knew that it would be such a challenge.  We were so busy  with our assignments which to remain current demanded of us in the early days anywhere from 5 to 12 hours a day; sometimes every day.

The lifespan of a typical Internet Faith Blogger is 6 months to 2 years!    I have seen hundreds come and go!   Hundreds!  The main reason that people quit  is because they get distracted.  I also know that for some it was really difficult to devote that much time and not be compensated.  I believe that for me, God gave me a certain grace.   That has sustained me.  It’s hard and it actually can seclude you and pull you away from most of the important people in your life if you are not careful.    I was initially in a conclave of about 7 Faith Bloggers from around the world.  It appears to me that the majority are doing other things.

I know that God wants a presence of everyday believers on the Internet.    It’s a  commitment; a lifestyle change.  If we can just commit to make the difference in the lifestyle of someone somewhere each day, then God can use us.  Sometimes, I  want to beat myself up because I feel that I could be doing better.  Then, somehow God smiles on me and shows me a way to just be consistent, even if my efforts are scaled back.

I started out with 2 websites.  For nearly a year, nobody came.  My end of the year total for two sites was around 3500 people.  That was discouraging.  They left no comments.  I prayed about it and was clear that I was to move to a “better neighborhood” with more opportunities.  That’s when I came to wordpress.  I have now 8 additional sites with a readership of over 2 million and comments too numerous for my response and I still feel that God will empower me to do far better.

It has been gratifying; along the journey I found myself in God; He rekindled me, ilumnated Himself to be; it has been a Blessing and I will persevere!!!

You see, there is a dying world out there and time is of the essence.

Press In For Your Healing by E. Davenport December 13, 2011

Psalm 34:19“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.”

Every time I give a testimony…people start praising God!   It’s not because they have to live off of what I saw…to know that I am telling them too.  It is because it’s a reminder that God delivers!!!!!

Far too many people of faith know nothing much about the bible.  Well, they have heard a few bible stories and they believe that the words of the bible are inspired.  But still, after hundreds of hours of going to church and hearing messages; when they have a problem….they get depressed BEFORE they run into God’s loving arms for comfort.

God wants to comfort you.  If you don’t believe me…test it out!

Some years back, facing death…I turned to God.  After all, that very same day, I had turned to my doctor for words of hope saying:  “I think I might get a second opinion?”  He replied in SCREAMING TONES:   “You don’t have TIME to get a second opinon!!!!!!”  My reply was so quiet he would strain to hear it…”Well, I’m canceling my surgery for tomorrow.”

Now mind you….I did not know what lied ahead of me…I was going to have to trust God.   I trust doctors…but just not that one at that time.  I am sure he was competent; but that wasn’t the path that I was to walk.

God was pulling me to press in to Him to get my healing.  By the time that I actually did have the surgery I wasn’t supposed to live through….(3 doctors later)…the doctors were perplexed at the most suspicious tissue they had ever seen that wasn’t cancer!

No matter what your diagnosis is  …God can be trusted!   I don’t need to tell you this.  You need to do  it.  Press in to God…He’s waiting to fill you up.   Promise.

Unbelievers All Around! by E. Davenport December 11, 2011

Whoever does not believe stands condemned already because

he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

(John 3:18)

The bible warns us of the consequences of not being in love.  As  we translate it literally….let’s try to look at it from another angle.  Here’s the reasoning based on inspiration.

God looked down and saw that man was on the wrong course.  A path filled with sin and He also saw that men would need a rescue mission

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.   John 3: 16

Jesus came to save you and I….I received Him…you did too…perhaps yes….perhaps no…but for a fact many rejected Him.

Here’s the stickler:   our loved ones…many of them did not receive Him.  Many of them think we are crazy; they just don’t get it!

I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not

believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in

your sins. (John 8:24)

The message about the cross is nonsense to those who are being destroyed, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.  1 Corinthians 1: 18

  3. Psalm 49:19
he will join the generation of his fathers, who will never see the light of life.
  4. Psalm 56:13
For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

Resolutions For 2012! by E. Davenport December 10, 2011

Let me hang out my qualifier right now!  In other words…let me drop the gauntlet!!!

I just pulled down the list of my New Year’s Resolutions by Faith for 2011!!  Guess what?  Out of 16 things more than half had happened.   All of the truly impossible stuff!   The miracles!   The ridiculous stuff happened!  And I figured out why the other stuff did NOT happen.   Because I forgot about it and didn’t stay in faith about it until it did happen.

God cannot do anything with my unbelief!

So for next year….a surely different and powerful year!   I’ll just be in faith for my resolutions every day!

P.S.  And a note on prophecy….if you’re planning to lay hold of it…pay attention.

Despite What You See…Be Of Good Cheer! by Gene McGuire December 8, 2011

“In the world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I [Jesus] have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
COMMENT: What do you think the following 5 well-known gentlemen have in common?:(1)George W. Bush, (2) Steve Martin, (3) Samuel L. Jackson, (4) Trent Lott and (5) Jimmy Stewart. Surprise! Surprise! They were all cheerleaders in college.(The Washington Times, Feb. 20, 2009) Well, I am thrilled to be included among such a distinguished group. You see, I also was a cheerleader in college; in fact, I was the squad leader at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in the mid 1950’s. Well don’t you dare feel left out, if you are a Christian, you can and should be a cheerleader.  As you know, when the Lord speaks to people in the Scriptures, He is also speaking to us. In Matthew 9:2 Jesus told the paralytic man: “Son be of good cheer your sins are forgiven you.   In another episode, Jesus’ disciples were frightened when they saw him walking on water. Immediately He said “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid. (Matthew 14:27)  In a conversation with Paul, even though there was a plot to kill him, our Lord reassured him to “Be of good cheer, Paul for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.” (Acts 23:11)  So you see, Jesus want all of us to be CHEERLEADERS.  PASS IT ON!!!!!
SCRIPTURE STUDY: Proverbs 15:13, Mark 6:50 and 2 Cor. 9:7
