Some University Professors Confuse People About Hell! November, 2016

If there is one profession that needs to be prayed for regarding misleading people about God and about Hell (Hades, Sheol) it is College Professors.  These people are confused; so it is doubtful that they are “deliberately” misleading people who are at a vulnerable age.  Yes, I’m giving most of them, the benefit of the doubt…but confusion is rampant regarding the reality of God on college campuses; especially for that profession.   I know so many young adults who went to colleges as believers and came out  with no definition in what they believe.   I think it’s just plain manipulation.  At the root of it; most often is atheism and Atheists won’t teach salvation.  If you know one, please write and tell me, I’d like to hear it.  So, is the “average” College Professor going to talk about Hell?   Probably not except to say it’s a fairy tale and they don’t believe.   The next time that you meet that instructor in the Lecture Hall who goes on that rant, I just wish SOMEONE would videotape it and anonymously post it on YouTube.  Yes, that’s a lovely idea!  Se, if you are confused; it’s fairly simple to confuse someone else; especially if they respect your position and so-called intelligence.  Let me just say that as an Undergrad, I attended a Christian College, so I didn’t have those issues but my children did.  I had to pray around the clock about some of the erroneous influences and I am praying that they all get saved.  WHY?   Because Hell is REAL.. that’s why!

A Prayer For The Lost by Elaine Davenport November, 2016

Father God, we come before Your throne humble yet bold, reverent and in Love with You.  You have chosen us before the foundation of the world; to bring forth the light, to push back the darkness.  There are people walking around in a daze that don’t know one day from the next.  There are people who are sick who need to feel Your Healing touch and  people who don’t know what they believe.  There are even people who think they know You but they don’t.  Help them like You helped us.  Use us as vessels yielded and daring to go where You send us and to speak what You say.  Mighty power is needed and we have no might; but You do.  It’s a hurting, confused, corrupt world out there.  Use us, to help people to bring them to Christ, to clear up confusion, to expose and turn back the forces of hell.  We are more than ready to fulfill the Great commission.  Thank You for hearing the beat of our hearts.  In Jesus Name we pray.  Amen

How’s Your Heart? By Elaine Davenport

Thankfulheart222Earlier this year, I was praying and I felt that I had received a message from God.  I felt like He was telling me to study on how to hear from Him.  Hmmm…at first, I laughed and wanted to say:  “God, if it’s one thing I know is that I do hear from you; I have notebooks full of words from God as I have listened intently over the years.  But, I knew God wanted me to get a greater understanding.  God speaks in so many ways; not just when we sit quiet to listen.  As I began to study How To Hear from God, I eventually realized that God had given me the message for so many reasons; but I think the main thing he wanted to say to me was:  “How’s Your Heart?”

You must be wondering why?  I have repented; but somehow I had become a Comfortable Christian.  Saving souls and going to where they are;  was what I was missing out on.  For most believers, this takes us out of our comfort zones.  We are so comfortable in our churches.  And, I know that church assemblies are necessary; but the amount of soul winning that goes on nowadays is lacking.

People are hurting.  People need Jesus.  People need to know the truth.  This world will not go on forever.  God is a Deliverer.  He is a provider.  He is a Healer.   People need to know Him and He is counting on believers.

If our hearts are right; there should be a fire in us that cannot be put out!   In fact, other people should smell the smoke!    We serve a God who can do anything.  He is in us.  He can turn things.  He loves us unconditionally.  He made the mountains.  Have you ever seen Niagara Falls?   He made that too, yes, man put some modifications to it later; but God made it.  A heart for God knows the pulse of God.   God wants the Gospel preached throughout the world and He plans to use you and me.    We can’t WIN SOULS!   God WINS SOULS…but He uses us to say what is needed.  I want to encourage you to be ready!!!!

Holman Christian Standard Study Bible for Women

I was online looking for a Bible to buy when I came across the Holman Christian Standard Study Bible for Women. The website allows bloggers to get a free copy of the book in exchange for a book review. Here are my thoughts:

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) is one of the most literal interpretations of the Bible that I have ever encountered. It reads in a language similar to the New International Version of the Bible. For instance, one of my favorite verses of the Bible, Psalm 91, in the King James Version would read,” He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” In the HCSB the same verse reads, “The one who lives under the protection of the ‘Most High dwells in the shadow of the’ Almighty.” Most serious students of the Bible have more than one copy, and would rely on the Bible concordance and the Amplified Bible for a more literal interpretation. While this Bible doesn’t come with the Amplified Bible, it does come with a concordance in the back that allows for moving between the Bible pages with ease. However, for new students to God’s Word, people like myself, who are not quite as concerned with the exact wordage, this Bible works.  This is probably one of the easiest interpretations of the Bible that I have encountered, and even though it doesn’t have the exact wordage of the King James Version, this Bible stays close enough to the text for a close interpretation.

Upon opening this Bible, one is struck by the details and thought that went into the making of this Bible. Included in the opening pages of the Bible is a Bible presented to page, the Ketubah, a page dedicated to writing down marriage details, and pages dedicated to family milestones and a list of women to include as spiritual mothers. In other words, this is a Bible made to preserve and keep for decades to come, and that’s just the beginning. The actual study Bible includes articles on women of the Bible. Each article includes the woman character’s background, her story, and life lessons.  The character sketches include just enough information to remember key points about the numerous women mentioned here, but to the point that allows for easy memorization. The Bible also includes maps, footnotes on specific passages, and articles on biblical womanhood, which goes further than the life lessons of the character sketches, and modernizes the lessons that might ask questions of the reader such as did God establish different roles for men and women? The articles rely on Scripture and wisdom for the answers.  Instead of answering the question with another question, the articles take a bold stance on the issues, drawing conclusions that are based on a God-given role as a woman. I found the articles to be helpful in relating the material of the article to my current role as a Christian woman.

The footnotes go in-depth and include the history of the passage and notes that one would be hard-pressed to find in a standard Bible. Though the print is small, certain words are highlighted to draw attention to the Biblical Womanhood articles. The Bible also comes with silver tabs that makes moving between chapters of the Bible with ease. I think if one can look past the tiny print of the footnotes, which allows for closer study, I think one can discover themselves spending hours upon hours in this Bible, reading the character sketches, and the articles, and finding themselves at ease with the text.  This Bible is written for the woman that wants to know about her place in God’s kingdom as a Christian woman with a little guidance. The tools included here for study will give the woman studying this Bible the confidence to go further in her exploration of the Bible, and the confidence to master the key to understanding God’s Word.  I would recommend this book for studying, reading and exploring.

I Want To Be Beautiful Fruit. By Elaine Davenport March , 2014

As we are about to enter into a time period where we “re-live”    the death, burial and Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…I want to move away from “religious” traditions.  Even without a name,  the 47 days before Easter Sunday are a time for self reflection, prayer, repentance, fasting, reliving the final days of Jesus and moving closer to God.

So, my plan is to clean myself up, to let God peel away all of my coverings so that He can get to the fruit; which is going to be the “me” at my best with my renewed mind.

I love the Book of Joshua…most especially Chapter One where God seems to be encouraging Joshua.  He seems to be saying:  “Don’t sweat it!  I will back you.  I will establish you.”    And then guess what?  He does just that!    (Read JoshuaAAABUNCHBANANAS Chapters 1-6)

Joshua 1

God’s Commission to Joshua

1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

So is this my hope?  Well, yes…but that’s not all.  I’m here for a purpose…and I want to be the best fruit that I can be because there is work to be done, assignments to be completed, souls to be won, prayers to be prayed…and lots that I don’t know.

So…I am about to embark on a journey and it starts on Ash Wednesday…I’m not Catholic and I do not have any plans to be…we celebrated Lent in the Lutheran church…but I’m not there anymore…and have no plans for that…but my plans are to take a “non-religious” journey with Jesus and to come out unpeeled.

Stubborn Faith! by Elaine Davenport February, 2014

AGODSWAY11“Stubborn Faith” is a strange expression.

I’m going to think outside the box on this.

You know faith is based on our confidence in a God who can deliver, heal and do a plethora of things.  The main thing is that He is a God who loves.  To prove His love, He has designed a specific plan that is custom made at any given time for each of us.  Please understand that there really are people who pray  and take time to listen as God speaks back to their hearts and gives them the plan of action.  There are lots of other people who read the bible and let God lead them in their heart…maybe they do not hear a voice or maybe they do and they don’t know it’s God…but somehow they just get a determination that things must be done a certain way.

This post is meant to encourage you.  If God has put something on your heart…then do not be stubborn by putting it off or doing something else.  If God has spoken to you about implementing a plan of action for something you know you are supposed to do…do not drag your feet…do not talk yourself out of it…don’t do things your way.  Do them God’s way for guaranteed success!!!
