Cafe Sozo Receives The Versatile Blogger Award!!! January, 2012

Please know this is all said  with GREAT humilty!   Cafe Sozo Faith Center is please to announce that we are the recipient if the Versatile Blogger’s Award!  And we received it from people that we do not know…in the natural.   But…God makes the connections; none of us can ever do what He does!

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.  Phillipians 4: 4

At first we were in shock about it…but we woke up!

First of all, we give a hearty THANK YOU to those faithful and talented administrators who Blog over at the Pure

Glory Blog!

They nominated us…wowee!  I mean this!   Hazel Straub and Apostle Gabriel Cross work in the vineyards for the lost and for those in God’s army.  There job is too keep us all supplied; a daunting task!      Their writings are so powerful.  In the early morning hours God in His great Wisdom and Majesty has led me to read their prophetic and on time messages!   I know that the ministry of Apostle Cross is in Alaska.  I got a chuckle out of it because all of my Blogger friends have been in faraway places like:   Sharon in Australia, Yeap Chee Seng in

Singapore, Bisi in London, Gladwell was in Poland at one point and there were more; but they all stopped (with the exception of Bisi who still continues on and actually does a lot of kingdom work; incuding another Blog and an Onlune Radio station with the most beautiful Christian music ever!)   and moved on.

It is so nice to get recognition; though truth be told none of us do this work for that reward for great is our reward in heaven, and yet it is nice to get earthly awards.  Few understand that Blogger’s generally work long and hard.  We’ve got to study, set up, organize, write, pray and often start over again!   So it is nice to be recognized!   THANKS!!!!

1. Add a picture of the award to your blog post.

2. Thank the blogger who nominated you and include a link to their blog.

3. Share 7 random facts about yourself.

4. Nominate 15 other Bloggers and inform those 15 they have been nominated.

1.  Cafe Sozo has 8 different Blogs; but Faith Center is the largest one!  Cafe Sozo was born out of two prior Blogs that were not receiving traffic.  When we moved to WordPress our traffic quadrupled times two.   (smiles)    During this jouney, we’ve been strengthened and we’ve been rekindled!   We are open to moving closer and to God at all times and to receive the manna that He has for us to sustain us and strengthen us as we joyfully carry out His work with willing hearts!

2.  Cafe Sozo is about to celebrate 5 years of writing and ministry on the Internet.  Those first few years were mostly 12 to 14 hours of Blogging and tech support stuff.   The Holy Spirit is truly the best teacher.  I can’t say that I was as on fire as I am now; I was more compelled; I thought I was more radical…but I am now!

3.  Cafe Sozo has over 700,000 hits just to the Faith Center Blog alone; all eight Blogs have received over 2 million hits!

4.  Only one person runs Cafe Sozo, Faith Center…that is God.  I am His humble trustworthy assistant.  It’s the best work I’ve ever had.    I was a little girl in a family that did not attend church.  At the Lutheran Church; I heard from God at the age of 10.  I now am non denominational.

” For in like manner, because the body is one and there are many members in it, while all of them are many members, they are one body; thus also is The Messiah.”

     1 Corinthians 12: 12

God has sent a host of people to write for Cafe Sozo; but there are only two writers who contribute to Faith Center regularly and they are Elaine Davenport, a prayer Intercessor who lives in  the Midwest  and Gene McGuire,  a man of God who has a huge international network who lives in the D.C. area.  .  They met when Elaine sought to be put on Gene’s mailing list a list he has maintained over Twenty-Five years!  (Gene’s niece  is a neighbor of Elaine and her husband. )  Please note that Gene writes at  WISDOM OF GOD

5.  Cafe Sozo prays for every reader, person who visits, persons who comments and all of their Internet Divine Connections on a daily basis.   What we pray for ourselves…we also pray for you!  We also pray for every current, past and future  Bloggers because we have seen many come and go.   We pray for people everywhere most especially those on the Internet given the challenges that they face!   We take authority over strongholds that would prevent any of them from experiencing victory in their lives.

6.  We have always reached out to others…this online ministry was born from a personal ministry to 3 young women with cancer.  We expanded to sending letters to people’s houses and to distributing letters to those that wanted them.   We did this on a monthly basis for three years until we were led to come Online and minister to the world.   We have adopted a ministry in India; and our Prayer Team holds and annual fundraiser where we sponsor needy ministries.     We hope to expand our efforts.

7.  We are on fire for God!   We admit that we have been unable to answer all of our prayer requests on an individual basis!  We view all of our readers with bowels of mercy and hearts of compassion.  You have strengthened us dear readers and we thank God for you!  We have veyr big dreams and plans for the future and we want you to be a part of it!

I admit; that I did not even know 15 Bloggers who have stuck around. (smiles)    The fact is that most Faith Bloggers do not do so!   I had to pray and trust God to show me who  purely have a heart for Him.  These people are presented with the Highest Recommendation!   Bisi  Oladipupo who lives in the UK and I have Blogged together for a few years and I count her as an honorable friend as well as  Gene McGuire who has so often supplied an overflow of God’s FRESH ammunition at a time of need …and there are many that I do not know personally only by the spirit but their faithfulness, sincerity, anointing and purity of heart as well as obedience deserve recognition!   THANK YOU ALL!!!

As a bonus here are 7 Brief  things I should have included above; but I’m a Blogger and we throw in extra words   (that have meaning…)  :

1. I’ve had over 100 jobs; this is my fave!

2. I’m in leadership over 40 Prayer Warriors…who taught me how to pray.

3.  Gave up meat, cake, pie, cookies etc for Lent last year…but continued on…I’m still alive!

THE QUESTION IS: WILL YOU BE READY? by Gene McGuire January 29, 2012

“But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Peace, Joy, Patience . . . ” (Galatians 5:22)

COMMENT: As I have mentioned in previous messages, I attend Gold’s Gym on a somewhat regular basis. Now my biceps, triceps and deltoid muscles are in fairly good shape, but there is one set of muscles that are out of control. . . .those pesky abdominals! It is not just the fact that, being a male, I don’t want to walk around looking like I am 6 months pregnant, but that excess fat in the stomach area can lead to health problems for us men. Therefore, I have been diligently exercising my ABS. The progress is slow and each time I look into a full length mirror sideways, I don’t see a whole lot of progress but I’m “keeping the faith”. That is the same determination we must have as we go through the process of being molded into the image of Jesus. Our culture has gotten us use to “instant gratification”. Microwave ovens can produce our dinners within minutes. ATM machines belch out cash at our command and we enjoy “instant messaging” on our computers. There are times when it seems as if our spiritual growth is at a standstill or, even worst, going backwards. We need to remind ourselves that God is continually working in us to will and to do for His good pleasure. (Phil. 2:13) Keep your faith; your transformation is a lifetime process. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Not An ACT of God! by E. Davenport December 25, 2011

Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, 1 Peter 5: 8

A while back, in a nearby suburb considered to be very safe, some vicious dogs were roaming around loose and came upon a woman and did deathly harm!  I was unnerved just to hear it.    I was also deeply saddened.  I could not help but to have empathy and to be angry with the dog’s owners for being negligent and careless.  Too often, I have watched Court TV and listened to owner’s of deadly breeds defend them by saying:  “They play with my children.” As a side note, a friend of mine who has a pit bull that she called a “puppy,” confided that she never turns her back on him and never allows her young grandchild around the dog…at all.  That said, you can imagine my surprise when the media zoned in on the response of the woman’s son who said:    Why did God let this happen…I want to know why…or something along those lines.  I immediately began to pray for his comfort and his understanding at some point in time of the true state of things.

See, God has no plans for your demise.  In fact, He has plans for good things for each and every one of us.  But He is not the “god” of this world.  It is satan.   This is his turf.  It is as though we are on a strange planet loaded with mine fields,  and harmful entities and traps that we cannot see.  So, we have been given a set of instructions in the bible…to help us.  We have also been given Yeshua…Jesus.

Man has a sin nature and satan; a fallen angel likes that.   His only requirement to join his kingdom is that one be like him and oppose, shun, disobey, and disrespect God.    I am not implying that this is what happened to the woman or that she was not a believer.  I am saying that there are traps, and schemes set up by the devil; we are warned as believers and we see it play out on a regular basis where people are picked off for no apparent reason known to us.  This was not an act of God; quite the contrary.

Psalm 23

1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm 91

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

I consider the above two passages to be promises and I read them regularly to remind myself and strengthen myself in what God says and to be clear of His intentions for my life .

King James Version (Jeremiah 29:11-13KJV)

11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Don’t Help The Devil! by Elaine Davenport Wednesday, October 7, 2009

MUSIC TO READ BY: “I Exalt Thee!” by Israel Houghton

Acts of kindness may soon be forgotten, but the memory of an offense remains.

Unfortunately, yes.  As much as I know better…it happened to me and I didn’t see it coming.

Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous, love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end.”  1 Corinthians 13: 4

I once had a dear church friend get mad at me.  I was shocked.  I immediately apologized and begged for forgiveness.  My mistake was that I had mentioned to them in a nice way that they had not kept their word on several occasions.  I should never have said that because they weren’t my children and I didn’t know them that well.  I thought I did.  But, I spilled it out without praying and I suppose I said it as a means of offense trying to control them or to make the person feel guilty.  It was sporadic, it was wrong and it wasn’t love.    I know better.  I suffered a lot of pain as a result.  I did a lot of praying.  I wouldn’t leave my church; but I changed my seat for a long time.  It was awful.  Why did I help the devil?  Why didn’t I realize that I was on a slippery slope?  I just wasn’t there yet.

I wish I could say that only the “new” believers get offended; but that’s not true.  Everyday, I meet someone who leaves a church they’ve been at for 20 years to go to another church.  When I ask them why they are leaving; I’ve heard all kinds of excuses.  Somebody said something.  Somebody did something.   I have met people who had compelling stories for leaving, but each person must ask themselves are they leaving for the right reason.

. Displeasure; anger, or moderate anger. He gave them just cause of offense. He took offense.
2. Scandal; cause of stumbling. Christ is called a stone of stumbling and rock of offense to both the houses of Israel. Ps. 8.
3. Any transgression of law, divine or human; a crime; sin; act of wickedness or omission of duty.
Christ was delivered for our offenses, and raised again for our justification. Rom. 4.
4. An injury.
I have given my opinion against the authority of two great men, but I hope without offense to their memories.
5. Attack; assault; as a weapon of offense.
6. Impediment. Matt. 16.

Offense is when you feel like you’ve been injured or slighted.  Some people get offended by something said to them and others may get offended by something that has not been said.  Perhaps, it’s a look, or body language, or whispering or a rumor.    Sometimes the root of it is miscommunication, jealousy,  pride and the list goes on.      My reaction injured another person and caused them to be offended and it could have went on and on except; we got our bearings.    I work daily not to be touchy or sensitive and I’m winning.

My friend and I got back together; but unfortunately she moved away.  I use that instance as a reminder of what I should never let happen.  I use the Word of God as my compass.

Don’t help the devil outwardly or inwardly.  Before I utter anything to anyone…I stop and ask myself:  “Am I helping the devil?  Can this be misconstrued?”  If I get a check in my spirit…I keep moving.

You are in control!   Yes you are…but you don’t “feel” like you are.  The devil knows a sure way to get you in a place where everything stops working for you. Don’t Help The Devil!   Don’t Do It!

Whenever anyone has offended me, I try to raise my soul so high that the offense cannot reach it

The Thrill of Victory! by Elaine Davenport

Can you imagine getting a mandate from God to put up a Christian Coffeehouse on the Internet and you need a computer?  More specifically you need a laptop?  They cost more.    That was the case here.  I had nothing and knew nothing about the Internet, bloggers or web sites.   For over 15 months, I blogged 10 hours or more per day to build traffic.  Many came to help…thank you so much!

We opened our doors on the Internet over two years ago at another address.  We were expecting the kind of crowd that they used to have at some of the best Midnight Madness sales…ha!  That wasn’t gonna happen.  After six months of daily blogging and set ups…only 3,000 people had trickled in.  We tried many approaches…befriending other bloggers, begging people to contribute, being consistent, writing catchy titles, prayer…but alas…we even added another site…and nothing happened.

DID WE GIVE UP?  NO.  We couldn’t…it was an assignment.  We had to remain obedient.  We had a mandate to put this site up.  Our wonderful minister today spoke about how God is a Lover and not a Hater …and this is so true.  God didn’t set us up to fail…so despite the fact that there was no instant success…we pushed on.

Eventually, we moved to this site.  We then created seven different sites.  I remember when I sent out a mass email blast telling people that we hit 16,000 visitors!  I was so proud.

So thank you for coming.  Some of you kept coming back…over and over and over the years.

When we added pictures and videos our finger traffic began to qyadruple…thanks.

Believe it ir not…though we never sold a thing or tried to…we have been Blessed with so much.  God has always given and still continues to give the increase.

Right now…we find ourselves with an incredible  backlog of addressing comments…but “nothing is impossible” with God.  We shall overcome…Yeah!

The Devil Never Quits   (My Testimony)

“Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”

Matthew 26:41a

Just an additional comment…right around the time  this site hit 800,000 visitors…the devil decided to test me and I almost failed.    I say this happened right after a fast and constant prayer.  One day after a very busy schedule, I laid down to rest.  It seemed so innocent…I was tired.  I’ll warn you in advance…this is an unusual story involving spiritual warfare.

In my sleep, I was in a house and noticed a little cubby hole in the attic.  I saw a man come out and give a flat rock to someone and order them to look at it.  The man was an evil man.   The person didn’t do it because they were afraid.  In the dream, the man returned later with a vengence and destroyed the person.  It was a dream…and at that point I didn’t remember that it was a dream.  I was very apprehensive of that man.  Before I knew it he had given me a flat rock with the same instructions and the same ultimatum.  Meditate and look into this flat rock or face his vengence!

It sounds so dub…but I was sleep and I felt trapped…I walked around and around with that rock and then from somewhere I remembered …The Blood...I began to plead it and I got B-O-L-D!

Well, of course, after I did that…the man disappeared…of course…
