Distractions Are Attacks! by Elaine Davenport November 30, 2010

Isaiah 40:29 – He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

There will be no more glossing over the facts; lest we as soldiers…defeat ourselves.

I’ve been distracted a lot lately from doing the things that I am supposed to be doing.  Don’t get me wrong; I’m doing God’s work, still praying for and helping others…always at the ready…but there are some things that were pushed aside…some tasks not yet complete; some procrastination…some rationalization…an underlying current that encourages me to believe that I will get it done as I watch the days fly by….WELL TIME’S UP FOR THAT JOKE!  There is about to be some rearranging going on!

I heard about a distant member of the family who passed on last week.  I remembered that for a few years I had wrote him back every month to encourage him to have faith.  This was around the time that he had first been diagnosed with an illness.  I never heard back from him.  Nor did I ever hear back from the hundreds of people that I wrote to for months and months….and so eventually I gave up and began to write on the Internet. But, I repented.  You see, God still wants us to complete our assignments even if there is no feedback, even if it doesn’t go like we thought.  Our pastor preached on this today.   We have to remember why we did whatever we’re doing in the first place…especially when it doesn’t make sense!

John 3:18-21 (Amplified Bible)

18He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation–he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.]

19The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil.(A)

20For every wrongdoer hates (loathes, detests) the Light, and will not come out into the Light but shrinks from it, lest his works (his deeds, his activities, his conduct) be exposed and reproved.

21But he who practices truth [who does what is right] comes out into the Light; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are–wrought with God [divinely prompted, done with God’s help, in dependence upon Him].

DON’T IGNORE THE ATTACK ON YOU…

Whether it be your marriage..

Whether it be your finances

Whether it be quietly pulling you away from  about a promise God has given you

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.Whether it’s your health

Whether it’s a car accident…

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6: 12

NOW YOU’VE GOT TWO WAYS TO HANDLE IT:

1.  You can stay prayed up and at the ready…

or

2.  You can be a reactionary

But whatever you do…examine things and don’t ignore them; and most especially DO NOT GIVE UP!

Eight Things that you can do…

1.  If you’ve missed it; ask God to forgive you.

2. Pray more

3…Ask God to help you keep your priorities straight. Ask God to help you to be more organized and to stay focused

4.  Hold yourself accountable to get the important things done first.

5.  Make promises to yourself and keep your word to you.

6.  Reward yourself in some important way when you reach milestones set by you.

7.  Celebrate and rejoice.

8.  Keep it moving; continue on to the next task.
