MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM CAFE SOZO! December 25, 2013

IsABIRTHDAYJESUS2aiah 9:6-7

New King James Version (NKJV)

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Who Would Imagine A King?

ACHRISTISBORN

I love the song:  “Who Would Imagine A King?”   Most especially the version sung by the Late Whitney Houston.  It has brought tears to my eyes so many times over the years…imagine…how much God loves us to create and implement our eternal salvation…just imagine…as you read these lyrics…would you in your wildest dreams have imagined such?  Well it’s real and Jesus said: “Blessed are those who believe and have not seen.”

If that’s you….you are Blessed…

Who Would Imagine A King

Mommies and daddies always believe
That their little angels are special indeed
And you could grow up to be anything
But who would imagine a king?

A shepherd or teacher is what you could be
Or maybe a fisherman out on the sea
Or maybe a carpenter building things
But who would imagine a king?

It was so clear when the wise men arrived
And the angels were singing your name
That the world would be different ’cause you were alive
That’s why heaven stood still to proclaim

One day an angel said quietly
That soon he would bring something special to me
And of all of the wonderful gifts he could bring

Who would imagine?
Who could imagine?
Who would imagine a king?

Mmm hmm

Merry Christmas to you and yours from Cafe Sozo!

Offense: Another Aids Virus! by Elaine Davenport November 1, 2013

Offense is the opposite of 1 Corinthians 13,  aka … The Love Chapter. (Serious dude.)  Read it and tell me if you see it.

We used to play a game in gym at school.  It was called Dodge Ball.    The  object  of  the  game was

don’t get hit by the ball.    There are two teams and one ball.  They take turns throwing at the other team trying to hit them.  When you get hit by the ball; you are  out of the game!   Last one in…wins. Even though you can see the ball, there is no way that you can know that it will be thrown at you.  You have to stay alert and be agile.  Sounds easy but it was hard.  That is how offense is. It is like something that is thrown at you and  you usually  don’t see it coming.   BAMM!!!  The Bible equates it with strife…and it puts us in a position of hatred if we succumb to it!   Wow!!!

Offense in too  many cases can be the elephant in the room: in churches, in families, in workplaces…

as long as the church struggles with this; the world will “stay away.” It’s a turnoff.

OFFENSE IS A WORK OF THE FLESH AND SOME OF THE MIGHTIEST PEOPLE HAVE FALLEN VICTIM TO IT; truth be told wars have started because of it.  Here are some examples  of things that can cause offense:

1. YOU SAID SOMETHING I DIDN’T LIKE. (harsh,judgment,opposite opinion)

2. YOU SAID SOMETHING I DIDN’T KNOW.(and didn’t like)   It made me feel: uncomfortable, threatened, pushed etc.)

3.  I DIDN’T LIKE YOUR TONE(bossy,  demanding, controlling, prideful, aggressive  etc.)WHEN YOU SPOKE TOME OR SOMEONE ELSE!

4. I DID NOT UNDERSTAND YOU, BUT I THINK I DON’T WANT TO  BECAUSE…(see  one of the other reasons)

5.  YOU IGNORED  ME. (talked over,  interrupted, walked past without speaking etc.)

6.  YOU ARE FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE I DON’T CARE FOR.

7.YOU DID SOMETHING TO ME AND I DID NOT LIKE THE WAY THAT YOU WENT ABOUT  DOING IT.

8. SUSPICION:  I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT I  DIDN’T  LIKE. I JUST COULD NOT PUT MY FINGER  ON  IT.

9. NEGATIVE GOSSIP:   LISTENING AND PARTICIPATION CAN  HAVE THAT EFFECT. (offense)

10.  YOU USE WORDS THAT I DO NOT USE!

11. YOU PUSHED  ME AWAY; YOUR FAULT.  (ignores the fact that I  let you;  so  I give myself permission to ignore you.)

If we find ourselves tangled in the deceptive WEB of offense we have to ask:DID I ENGAGE IN  LONGSUFFERING, KINDNESS, VANITY  OR PRIDE?

ImagePsalm 119: 165  Those who love your law have great peace. Nothing causes them to stumble [or be offended].

Proverbs 10:12
Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all wrongs.

Proverbs 15:18
A wrathful man stirs up contention, But one who is slow to anger appeases strife.

Proverbs 16:28
A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.

Proverbs 29:22
An angry man stirs up strife, And a wrathful man abounds in sin.

Proverbs 28:25
One who is greedy stirs up strife; But one who trusts in The LORD will prosper.

Proverbs 17:1
Better is a dry morsel with quietness, Than a house full of feasting with strife.

Proverbs 17:9
He who covers an offense promotes love; But he who repeats a matter separates best friends.

Proverbs 17:19
He who loves disobedience loves strife. One who builds a high gate seeks destruction.

Proverbs 17:14
The beginning of strife is like breaching a dam, Therefore stop contention before quarreling breaks out.

When We Just Don’t Understand Things! by E. Davenport September, 2013

It happens all the time, everyday..all around us. There are people walking around with a lack of understanding on what really goes on in the earth from a spiritual AFAITHperspective and they put their trust in man instead of God and guess what?   They get misled…offended…off track and worse. Do not let it happen to you!

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. Psalm 118:8

Making Scriptures Real! By Elaine Davenport August 31, 2013

prayerpower2

The scriptures are meant to be real.  I have heard some of the best Bible teachers and leaders talk about the importance of  making the scriptures come alive by reading them outloud.  Certainly there has been unified teachings on the power of the word of God.  I read an amazing testimony of a woman who stood on 1 SAmuel 2: 26 when she noticed that her young son was not growing.  He not only began to hrow, but he lived out that scripture!  Wow!

26 Little Samuel was growing in two ways—he was getting taller, and he was becoming everyone’s favorite (and he was a favorite of the Lord’s, too!).

WHAT A WONDERFUL PRAYER TO PRAY FOR OUR CHILDREN!

Thirsty Faith ! by E. Davenport June, 2013

THE BEST STREET

I find myself in such a lovely position as of lately.  I know that I am not alone.  That is I am thirsty to know more of the things of God and craving breakthrough.  As I read through the bible; I stumbled across the story of Cornelius a very admirable man .  You se, Cornelius must have really gotten God’s attention.  He was not even a Jewish person; he was a Gentile  and yet his behavior, his heart and his diligence caused God to open a door to engraft the Gentiles into the faith.  As a result, generations of people who had no future…were ushered into eternity!   Hallelujah.

In these end times with so many things happening in  the news daily it would be easy to lose our focus.  The truth is:  people do it everyday.  I fight to make certain that I am not distracted.  It has caused me to live a joyful and peaceable life of separation and fellowship.  I hope that the story of Cornelius inspires you!  Have an amazing day!

Please do not read it just once…but soak it in…thanks!

Acts 10

King James Version (KJV)

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
