FATHER’S DAY TWIST! by E. Davenport June 4, 2012

This morning before I awoke, I realized that I had been hearing this song  over and over again.  It was amazing because I had not heard it in years.  I wasn’t sure which of my childhood churches I had heard it.  You see, I was a LutheranBaptist.  As a result of that journey…I learned two really important things:   1. God s real and 2. Faith is amazing!

I SURRENDER ALL by Judson W. Van De Venter 1896

  1. All to Jesus I surrender;
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live.

    • Refrain:
      I surrender all,
      I surrender all;
      All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
      I surrender all.
  2. All to Jesus I surrender;
    Humbly at His feet I bow,
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  3. All to Jesus I surrender;
    Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
    Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
    Truly know that Thou art mine.
  4. All to Jesus I surrender;
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power;
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  5. All to Jesus I surrender;
    Now I feel the sacred flame.
    Oh, the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory, to His Name!

I woke up with the sweet thought of the Father on my heart.

YOU SEE…God the Father, the maker of heaven and earth created us.  We choose to be His children.  I’m so glad that I did.  Without trying to sound churchy…I want to say that God The Father…has always been there for me.  He gave us Jesus and The Holy Spirit.   So, it is with great humility, reverence and love that  say to Him….so today like everyday… say to God the Father with all thanksfulness…

THE CASE FOR CAFE SOZO: Cafe Sozo Broadens It’s Mission! May 20, 2012

Cafe Sozo began five years ago.  There was no budget.  There was only one plan.  That plan was to spread the Gospel.  The web designer who quit on us…said we’d be “lucky” to get 30,000 hits in 3 years.  Our site reached one million and began to decline.  What we’ve found is that we need to invest more in our sites in order to grab market share, draw steady traffic, minister, give feedback and to stay current.  We have seen people come and go and we have never quit.

Now, we find ourselves at an impasse…fighting stagnancy or making a choice to embrace growth!   WE HAVE DECIDED TO EMBRACE GROWTH TO FULFILL OUR VISION.

We need your support!

Please know that there must be a spiritual Christian presence on the Internet.  Certainly the Love of God, the mercy, the Wisdom, the grace and the peace is present. However, the dark side of things, the evil side of things, the deceptive, and confusing is also present as well as distractions.  So, though there aren’t many studies to give one statistics on the numbers of Faith Bloggers who have quit, changed their course or been distracted or disrupted through no fault of their own; I have seen it!  There are no statistics to tell you how many abandoned blogs there are on the Internet…thousands.

So we have persevered and now

It’s been over 6 years, since we opened up this website!   A lot has happened and a lot has changed.  We took the words of Jesus quite seriously…

1And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.  Matthew 28

Since we had no resources, we took to the Internet.  There is a long story that I have about a well meaning web designer who bowed out at the last minute.  Then, the Holy Spirit literally led me to a Blog and of course, the rest is proof of what God can do.  Not any of us.

Our original plan was to put up a website so that we could spread the Gospel and to raise funds to aid Christian writers (whom we have seen greatly struggle to fund their own books.)  The truth be told I would love to see MORE successful writers begin to fund the less fortunate.  On this journey, we discovered ministers, evangelists, ministries, prophets, teachers, intercessors;  with many struggling to fulfill their hearts desire to go into all of the world to preach, teach and baptize in the Nam of Jesus.

We still believe in that mission, but we have discovered on this journey a greater mission.  That mission is in meeting the needs of the readers who visit this site.  That is a fact.  People write for prayers, but we haven’t the staffing to answer them all.  The sites are not technically updated.  For ewexample we have not been able to upload mp3’s on all of our sites because it is not free.  In fact, the appearance of the site we would like to change, but the cost is TIMES EIGHT because we have 8 sites and we are working on doing that.  We would like to put the sites under an easier domain name and roll all eight sites into one; but right now we are working this out…slowly.

We ask for your support prayerfully, financially and by coming by to give us feedback.  We reached a pinnacle of over two million readership; which is tapering off because we have not offered the technological tweaks that fules activity at the sites.

So, in the grand  plan…we see ourselves moving towards increasing our readership and meeting all of our objectives.  We plan to add a PAY PAL Donation button and to begin a fundraising campaign for site maintenance and expansion.

Matthew 5:16 ESV / 221 helpful votes

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.  Please Consider Donation …our Donation button s on the right.   Thank you.

Cafe Sozo Celebrates Two MIllion Hits!

Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all peoples.
1 Chronicles 16: 24

It’s been a great journey!  And we’re just getting started!   I wish that I could tell you exactly what day we crossed the TWO MILLION mark; but I cannot.  It was 80, 506 hits ago!   Really.

This site is run by the Holy Spirit.  Our original  web designer had said we’d be “lucky” if we got 20,000 hits in the first two years.  Well, I suppose he was denying the power of God.

These are the last days and this is what God says in Acts 2:  17

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:American King James Version

Many many thanks to those who have supported us over these last few years with prayers, moral support, encouragement , wisdom, inspiration, teaching and ministering!  GOD KNOWS!

Rekindle The Fire! by Elaine Davenport July 24, 2011

I need for you to ask yourself a question…honestly…can God use you?  Or are you just going through the motions?   Most people won’t admit it; but the truth will come forth.  How effective are you in transacting Kingdom business?   What would God say?   Don’t feel bad…I was there…but God helped me.

I had to repent…then I rolled my sleeves up and got to work.  My flame has been rekindled; and I promise to try to ignite anyone that gets in my way!  YOU BETTER THINK ABOUT IT!

Most people do not know that because of my childhood summers in the mountains of West Virginia; I was not afraid of mountains.  So, it was no surprise to me that when I got older and began to walk with the Lord that I…climbed the highest mountain that I could find…faithwise….that could be said.

So…what did I do when I got “near”  the top?

I slipped….

No, everyone doesn’t do that.  Most people go higher up…”the spiritual mountain.”  But, I didn’t…I slipped because I “felt” I was doing too much and I felt that I wasn’t getting any help.  Was it God’s fault?  NO WAY!   Was it my pastor or any minister of the Gospel that God sent my way with a message, a Word, to speak into my life?  NO WAY?

Well, the flesh always needs somebody to blame …and it was me!

Had I truthfully done everything that God had instructed me to do or was I doing the famous “pick and choose?”

I was missing it, lacking energy, slowly becoming dull…and inwardly…I knew it.  People could not really tell it…they probably just thought I was laid back…but God knew.

I knew too.

I had grown weary in well doing… the bible truly warns against this.  I was still going to church and to meetings and sometimes I wasn’t quite plugged in like I should have been.

So what God me back on track?  God did!!!

Let’s look at the word REKINDLE:  It means:  To relight (a fire).2. To revive or renew:  Also:  reawaken, stimulate, revive, arouse, stir up, revivify, re-activate.

Don’t wait for REVIVAL!   Ask God to help you.

One day///in some way…God gave me a dream…and as a result the spark ignited a flame in me…that the devil truly is just sick about…I like that!

6 Hence I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; 7 for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control. 8 Do not be ashamed then of testifying to our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel in the power of God, 9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not in virtue of our works but in virtue of his own purpose and the grace which he gave us in Christ Jesus ages ago, 10 and now has manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12 and therefore I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am sure that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me. 13 Follow the pattern of the sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus; 14 guard the truth that has been entrusted to you by the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. 2 Timothy 1:  6-14

Some  scriptures to keep in mind…

The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. (1 Peter 4:7)

When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away. (Luke 21:9)

But not a hair on your head will perish. (Luke 21:18)
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. (Luke 21:10)

There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. (Luke 21:11)
By standing firm you will gain life. (Luke 21:19)

When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. (Luke 21:20)

Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:24)

On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. (Luke 21:25)

There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. (Luke 21:25)

Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. (Luke 21:26)

When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. (Luke 21:28)

By Jeanniene Lee Maki

Beloved, the holidays are the perfect time to mend broken relationships! Rather than allowing another year to pass and to place even a larger wedge of separation between you and family or friends, it is the perfect time to mend broken relationships.

The holidays are the perfect time to extend forgiveness and let go of the hurts of the past. Since they happened in the past, they need to be left in the past so you can go on with your future.

For yesterday’s hurts from broken relationships to hold you captive today, you must be operating in unforgiveness.

Unforgiveness will not only weaken your spirit and rob you of your faith when unchecked and not dealt with, but it will ultimately separate you from God. If we do not forgive others, it becomes impossible for God to forgive us.

Receiving forgiveness from God is directly linked to us extending forgiveness to others. Jesus made this quite clear in Mark 11:

And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, FORGIVE HIM AND LET IT DROP (leave it; let it go). IN ORDER THAT your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your [own] failings and shortcomings.
(Mark 11:25-26 AMP)

Yes, You Can Do It!

Jesus did not say we are to try to forgive if we can. No, beloved, Jesus boldly and simply stated that we are to “forgive.” Period. Jesus did not suggest that we forgive those that have hurt us; He commanded us to forgive them.

Now it would be unjust and unfair for Him to command us to do something that was impossible for us to do. Therefore, it is within our ability to forgive. God has enabled us with what is necessary to forgive. It doesn’t matter what has happened; you can forgive. Forgiveness is a choice.
Operating In Fear
You may not realize it, but to operate in unforgiveness is actually to operate in fear. We often don’t forgive others because we’re afraid of getting hurt again. We are afraid we will never recover from the damage that has been done to us.

Unforgiveness is connected to fear, and if you are a born-again Christian, fear is not natural to you. God has not given you a spirit of fear (2 Tim. 1:7a). Fear is a spirit that comes from Satan, not from God. The spirit that God gives us is absent of fear but is full of power, love and soundness of mind (2 Tim. 1:7b).

Rely on the comforting, helping, strengthening power of the Holy Spirit that is within you (John 14:16 AMP) to enable you to forgive. Then forgive by faith, not by feelings.

Decide To Forgive
The first ingredient to forgiving is deciding to forgive. Make a quality decision to forgive because God’s Word commands us to do it, and then just do it!

After you have made that decision, speak and act in accordance with the decision you have made to forgive. Refuse to rehearse in your mind any longer or in your conversation with others the hurt they caused you.

Refuse to say anything negative about anyone who has hurt you. Refuse to allow the holiday gatherings to be another time, like it had been before, to relive over and over again the hurt that you suffered in the past. Let go of the past!

Seize the opportunities the holiday season brings by mending broken relationships during the time you spend at holiday gatherings. Use this time to mend relationships rather than engaging in strife, fussing, fighting and strengthening the wedge of separation.

Seize the opportunities that the holiday season brings by talking with those you have been bitter with all those years. Express your decision to forgive them and let go of the past. Try a warm, sincere hug.

Look for opportunities to bless those who have hurt you in both word and in deed. Make it a priority of your heart to go out of your way to do something exceptionally nice for them.

God will use this to not only bring healing and deliverance to your heart, but will use it to mend and restore the relationship that has been broken down due to calamity.

Distractions Are Attacks! by Elaine Davenport November 30, 2010

Isaiah 40:29 – He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

There will be no more glossing over the facts; lest we as soldiers…defeat ourselves.

I’ve been distracted a lot lately from doing the things that I am supposed to be doing.  Don’t get me wrong; I’m doing God’s work, still praying for and helping others…always at the ready…but there are some things that were pushed aside…some tasks not yet complete; some procrastination…some rationalization…an underlying current that encourages me to believe that I will get it done as I watch the days fly by….WELL TIME’S UP FOR THAT JOKE!  There is about to be some rearranging going on!

I heard about a distant member of the family who passed on last week.  I remembered that for a few years I had wrote him back every month to encourage him to have faith.  This was around the time that he had first been diagnosed with an illness.  I never heard back from him.  Nor did I ever hear back from the hundreds of people that I wrote to for months and months….and so eventually I gave up and began to write on the Internet. But, I repented.  You see, God still wants us to complete our assignments even if there is no feedback, even if it doesn’t go like we thought.  Our pastor preached on this today.   We have to remember why we did whatever we’re doing in the first place…especially when it doesn’t make sense!

John 3:18-21 (Amplified Bible)

18He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation–he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.]

19The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil.(A)

20For every wrongdoer hates (loathes, detests) the Light, and will not come out into the Light but shrinks from it, lest his works (his deeds, his activities, his conduct) be exposed and reproved.

21But he who practices truth [who does what is right] comes out into the Light; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are–wrought with God [divinely prompted, done with God’s help, in dependence upon Him].

Whether it be your marriage..

Whether it be your finances

Whether it be quietly pulling you away from  about a promise God has given you

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.Whether it’s your health

Whether it’s a car accident…

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6: 12

1.  You can stay prayed up and at the ready…

2.  You can be a reactionary

But whatever you do…examine things and don’t ignore them; and most especially DO NOT GIVE UP!

Eight Things that you can do…

1.  If you’ve missed it; ask God to forgive you.

2. Pray more

3…Ask God to help you keep your priorities straight. Ask God to help you to be more organized and to stay focused

4.  Hold yourself accountable to get the important things done first.

5.  Make promises to yourself and keep your word to you.

6.  Reward yourself in some important way when you reach milestones set by you.

7.  Celebrate and rejoice.

8.  Keep it moving; continue on to the next task.

The Real Deal On The Holy Spirit! by Elaine Davenport Sunday, August 31, 2008

I hope that you’ll just let me be real for a few minutes. I was not raised to know much about the Holy Spirit or as some say: “The Holy Ghost.” Though certainly, I was comfortable with the idea of the Holy Trinity.

Jesus loves us so much!

As a teenager; I attended church with my grandmother. I was under the impression that The Holy Ghost only came on very emotional people. It seemed like he only came in church services and only to a very few. After a while, the people came back to normal. That was my take on it. I never wanted The Holy Ghost under those circumstances. The people passed out, lost their hats and wigs, messed up their hair and worse off everybody in the whole church knew it. That was at the Baptist Church that we attended. Other than that, I loved the service.

I was literally raised in two churches and in my mom’s Lutheran church they called him The Holy Spirit and the services were always quiet and without incident though I will say that there was just as much of an anointing in that church as my grandmother’s church. (just in a different way)

Now, some years later; I attend a non denominational church in which the bible is taught and faith is known and spoken. Faith speaks…I’ve come to know more about The Holy Spirit. While many may come to call him The Holy Ghost; I call him the Holy Spirit and I’ll explain why. It just comes natural to me. Jesus prayed to the Father and asked Him to send us The Holy Spirit and God granted his petition.

Listen to this:

John 14:16-17 (King James Version)

16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Now Look At The Amplified Bible explanation:

John 14:16-17 (Amplified Bible)

16And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever–

17The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.

and Standby

He’s a real person and God sent Him to live on the inside of me to talk to me, guide me, lead me, to meet my needs and to bring my Words into action. I need the Holy Ghost; but it wasn’t until I began to really study the Word of God that I began to understand. I’d love to talk more about my journey with The Holy Spirit for indeed it has been so beautiful that I’d rather not ever be without Him …ever. I look forward to speaking on this subject a lot more.
