Good and bad

Heads and Tails

Up and Down

Before and After

First and Last

Spiritual and Carnal…

Within each person is the ability to be ruled from two different directions. The draw yo either side is very strong. The outcome is very much within our control. Because of that; God holds us responsible.

Everybody is two-faced; but I don’t mean that in a bad way. All humans have two sides. Each person gets to choose which nature is important to them. We all have a carnal (or fleshly nature). We all have a spiritual side. Ever wonder why most people are greatly touched by an inspirational song or message? That’s because it promotes the spiritual side to alertness.

We are all speaking spirits; but since most people aren’t aware of this they suppress it. A lot of times, in church I see people running down front to join or I see them crying. That’s the spiritual side bursting through. Sometimes, when people pray they are greatly moved emotionally…yes, the spiritual side is moved.

Have you ever seen someone lose their temper and blow their cork? Yes, well that’s not the spiritual side. That’s the flesh.

The bible gives us a wonderful list of the “fruit” of the spirit. Of course, the carnal side is the opposite.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” (Galatians 5:22)

” We ask God to direct our lives. He generates the fruit. And people around us harvest the benefits.

God wants to be our leverage in living, empowering us to feel better about ourselves, more excited about our future, more grateful for those we love and more enthusiastic about our faith.

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, God has given you His Holy Spirit to help you live life according to His perfect plan. Why not pray this simple prayer and by faith invite Him to fill you with His Spirit.” Jennifer Apegg

Do Atheists Pray? by Elaine Davenport Thursday, August 14, 2008

I’m not going to lie; I don’t know much about atheists. However, as a prayer warrior; knowing warfare is real, I couldn’t help but wonder do atheists pray? So, of course; I googled it. Got over One million hits! Here’s my conclusions…they are not final.

It seems that atheists are on a scale of one to ten like everybody else. That much I noticed; though I don’t profess to be an expert on them. It’s guaranteed that someone will read this with an attitude waiting for me to be politically incorrect so that they can pounce on me verbally. It’s okay, I’m tough…it’s happened before. I found this prayer that has taken THE LORD’S PRAYER and converted it into words that suggest that atheists rely on themselves…I hope that’s not true. Also, I found a testimony from an atheist who prayed in a crisis and didn’t expect to hear from God…he heard from God…became born again over time.

* I’m sure I’ll get one of those “you arrogant Christians” letters. However, this isn’t about me…it’s about souls not going to hell. So, I prefer to be bold about saving people from the lake of fire. If you’re a believer and you’re reading this; it’s time to take a stand!

God desires to add to His family. Atheists are a part of His creation. Let’s corporately pray for them:

Father God, we ask You right now to hear our prayer regarding those who have no relationship or desire to have a relationship with you. Most of them don’t even know that You are real. So Father, we ask for Your mercy and Your grace for them, on them and around them. We’re asking You to restore all of the lost souls Lord. Send forth worthy laborers to cross their paths.

Help them to move closer to you and to grow in the things of God. Father, we pledge to continue to do intercession on their behalf. Let Your Truth become apparent in their lives and Your Love reign. Thank You for hearing our simple prayer in Jesus Name and by his blood. Amen

We pray that atheists will be open to faith and prayer and we will stand for those strongholds to be torn down.

Editor’s Note:  We don’t debate the existence of God.  We know He’s real.

I had a friend who called today; she’s a believer. I’m not saying that she goes to church all the time because I don’t really know. I suspect not lately. She’s been going through quite a thing. In fact, her family has lost things that most families could not handle and that’s a fact. She recently got an upper level college degree from a prestige university and I was so happy for her. She needs a job badly….yesterday. Also, she and he husband are caregivers for his parents who are in hospice. I could go on…guaranteed and tell a truthful story of a woman who has greatly suffered.

She called me today to make a simple request and of course; I’ll happily comply and assist. As our conversation continued and we discussed some legal matters that she is challenged with, I was led to ask her if we could pray briefly. She said okay and we prayed for two minutes asking for God’s favor and decreeing it over her life. At the end of our prayer; I was most Blessed with a great feeling of peace. I know that God will rectify, restore and Bless her and her family.

I’m so happy that she was open to prayer.

Your Life Vest by Elaine Davenport Tuesday, July 15, 2008

You probably never looked at it this way; but your ability to endure has been a life vest to you!

Longsuffering: Enduring or capable of enduring hardship or inconvenience without complaint:

Longsuffering is a life vest. It’s been given to you freely by God if you’re born again. It’s in your benefit package.

Nobody wants hardships. In fact, in our society we give accolades to people who’ve endured the greatest hardships. Courts award them lots of monies in many cases. We often think that we can’t endure…but we the born again believers have been given the SUPERNATURAL ABILITY to endure. It’s there but we have to understand it. Let me explain:

My friends and neighbors know that every year I plan to have a spectacular yard. This year was no exception. I love Japanese Maple trees and I’ve always wanted one. A dear friend gave me a Japanese Maple out of her yard that was fully grown and extremely valuable. I was so happy. I began to pray about the whole thing and God gave me the go ahead. We had a time digging it up and transporting it. It took 4 people. We had to dig an enormous hole to put it in when we got to my house.

Once it was planted it was stunning! Soon…it began to die. Each day, that tree looked more dead. The leaves curled up. Soon, they began to fall off the tree. In desperation I researched it. I found out that I should have brought all the dirt it was planted in originally with me for the transplant. I gathered a group together and we went back and got it. Even put some expensive tree fertilizer soil in the ground when we dug it up again and we even made the hole bigger. I continued praying and was assured that the tree would survive. I heard God say: “This is a faith test.” Well, that canceled my plans to dig it up and throw it away!

Two weeks went by and there wasn’t much improvement. But the leaves stopped falling off and it rained a lot. It looked terrible! I’m sure my neighbors had a good laugh since I had recently completed a Master Gardener course. I began to speak scriptures to the tree. I stepped up my watering.

One day, I realized that the tree had one leaf that was normal. The next day there were two. Soon there were fifteen. Now, there are more than I can count. I had faith that God could restore this tree and fought each day the temptation to pull it up and throw it to the curb and I’m so glad. Because I was patient, I had a chance to see a victory. My next door neighbor said: “It may live!” I say: “It will live!” READ TREES BY JAMES JOYCE

What are you saying about the situations in your life that surround you? Are you saying what you see? Or are you saying what God’s Word says about it? How’s your mindset? Are you operating out of love, are you enduring patiently and trusting in God? If not, why not.

It doesn’t matter if it’s your health, a relationship, a child, a friendship, your finances, your job…get in the Word of God, move closer to God, find out what you’re supposed to do and make a vow to endure and do it!

Ministers keep telling us that God is Love. That’s true. Everything that He thinks towards us is based on Love; that is if you are one of His children. It’s your choice. If you aren’t His child; you’re simply His creation…there’s a difference. Don’t be fooled. God wants to reshape His children into being more like Jesus His son so He has equipped us through the Holy Spirit to be different to take on supernatural qualities. They are called THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT.

Well, if you think this is about that game show on television or some tid bit on Chuck Woolery the good looking host; sorry to disappoint you , but this is more important. This is about who God wants us to be. It may not seem important, but if we can become more like this in our character and personalities; things will go a lot smoother.

When we became born again our characters are supposed to change’ but it won’t be like Star Trek; we can’t “morph” into these new personalities. However, if we work at it and are aware of God’s intention it makes things a lot easier.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” (Galatians 5:22)
