Does shouting dishonor God? Let’s dissect this.
I used to go to church with my grandmother every Sunday. I used to get so upset when people would shout. I just did not understand it nor did I want to. I felt they were showing off. Based upon what I know now; that part is rather doubtful.
But, I made my grandmother promise me that she wouldn’t het “The Holy Ghost” and start shouting as they used to say. Of course she not only promised, but she broke it the next time that we went to church.
It was definitely fear on my part. I was afraid that something would happen to her, embarassed thinking it was within her control and I was ignorant of the more astute things of God. They didn’t act like that at my Lutheran church and I was being legalistic.
I never thought the day would come that I would be on fire for God in such a way that I could care less about what anybody thought!

Some time ago, my daughter and her friend came in on New Year’s Eve complaining that they had nothing to do. I said: “Hey, why don’t you guys run down to the church…we’re having a New Year’s Eve service and it will be packed! ” The both excitedly agreed to go. I stayed home praying.
It wasn’t long before they were back home. “Mom” my daughter said, ” Those people were dancing, shouting and they were going wild. We didn’t like that so we left!”
I was surprised at their response.
Without being specific, I have heard of people who think that shouting about God or to God is some sort of finatical , disrespectful, unnecessary act.
To conclude any of those words is a total act of judging; a “mote in your eye” stance.
But, I suppose the real question is: “Is Shouting biblical?”
God encourages us to shout joyfully it is all throughout the bible; especially the Psalms. The Jericho walls fell with a loud shout!
When you go to any sports competition; I guarantee you’ll hear some shouting and some noise.
The bible tells us that we can praise our way out of our troubles! That’s whewn the Blessings come down from heaven. Did I say heaven? Well, I’m not going to praise in a low voice; I want heaven to hear me!
Gleeful shouting honors God. How can we determine if someone’s shout is gleeful?
WE CANNOT TELL, BUT THE PERSON AND GOD CAN TELL.
That makes a good case for God telling us not to be judge others; but to love them. We cannot read their hearts.
The Bible on Praising Loudly
1Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy[a]met him. They stood at a distance 13and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
14When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.
15One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
17Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” LUKE 17
JOSHUA AND THE JERICHO WALL…
1 ¶ Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
.2 And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
.4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seve.n trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him. JOSHUA 6
Psalm 100 (SHOUT JOYFULLY, GIVE THANKS, BLESS HIS NAME.
Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting, and His faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 95:1-3 SHOUT JOYFULLY
O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
Psalm 66:1-4 SHOUT JOYFULLY
Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awesome are Thy works! Because of the greatness of Thy power Thine enemies will give feigned obedience to Thee. “All the earth will worship Thee, and will sing praises to Thee; They will sing praises to Thy name.”
