The Spiritual Hammer! by Elaine Davenport Friday, October 10, 2008

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ”. (2 Corinthians 10:4,5)

You need something really powerful today! If you’re like most people; no matter where in the world that you live you may be facing any of the following:

Eviction notices, foreclosures, health problems, aches, pains, depression, harassment, adultery, can’t find a job, phobias, can’t pay bills, tired of being alone, paranoia…the list goes on.

Spouse in ill health, no family support, gang oppression, lousy schools, bad neighborhood, poor or non existent relationships, pressure all around…what to do?

What you have to do is to stir up your faith! No doubt about it.

You have some tools to help you fight! In the natural it won’t make sense…but just try them…God gave every man, every woman a measure of faith…the bible says so.

Use these tools:

PRAISE: “Out of the mouths of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of your enemies, that you may silence the enemy and the avenger.” (Psalm 8:2).

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (Revelation 12:11—NIV)

PRAYER James 5:16-18 declares, “…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.”

THE NAME OF JESUS! Philippians 2:9-11: “Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Now, all of these weapons coupled with your faith forms a mighty hammer and you can crush any obstacle that comes against you and don’t you forget it!

The Real Deal On The Holy Spirit! by Elaine Davenport Sunday, August 31, 2008

I hope that you’ll just let me be real for a few minutes. I was not raised to know much about the Holy Spirit or as some say: “The Holy Ghost.” Though certainly, I was comfortable with the idea of the Holy Trinity.

Jesus loves us so much!

As a teenager; I attended church with my grandmother. I was under the impression that The Holy Ghost only came on very emotional people. It seemed like he only came in church services and only to a very few. After a while, the people came back to normal. That was my take on it. I never wanted The Holy Ghost under those circumstances. The people passed out, lost their hats and wigs, messed up their hair and worse off everybody in the whole church knew it. That was at the Baptist Church that we attended. Other than that, I loved the service.

I was literally raised in two churches and in my mom’s Lutheran church they called him The Holy Spirit and the services were always quiet and without incident though I will say that there was just as much of an anointing in that church as my grandmother’s church. (just in a different way)

Now, some years later; I attend a non denominational church in which the bible is taught and faith is known and spoken. Faith speaks…I’ve come to know more about The Holy Spirit. While many may come to call him The Holy Ghost; I call him the Holy Spirit and I’ll explain why. It just comes natural to me. Jesus prayed to the Father and asked Him to send us The Holy Spirit and God granted his petition.

Listen to this:

John 14:16-17 (King James Version)

16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Now Look At The Amplified Bible explanation:

John 14:16-17 (Amplified Bible)

16And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever–

17The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.

and Standby

He’s a real person and God sent Him to live on the inside of me to talk to me, guide me, lead me, to meet my needs and to bring my Words into action. I need the Holy Ghost; but it wasn’t until I began to really study the Word of God that I began to understand. I’d love to talk more about my journey with The Holy Spirit for indeed it has been so beautiful that I’d rather not ever be without Him …ever. I look forward to speaking on this subject a lot more.

Setting our Sights! by Elaine Davenport (Wednesday, May 28, 2008)

Just wanted to say:  THANK YOU!

for what?

*Support, Encouragement, Hope,

Feedback, Agreement, Disagreement,

New Ideas, Your Thoughts, Your caring,

Your Prayers, Your Friendship…with humility….Thanks!

We’re setting our sights (no play on words…smile) on the 200,000 mark. And to think that our original web designer said we’d get a thousand hits every 6 months? For some sites that may be easy; but for us it hasn’t been. Our job is just to keep plugging away, encouraging, praying for others and giving the Word. We haven’t compromised. We’ve avoided debating, publicity stunts and compromising tactics. We’re humble people who love God and we’re not afraid to say it. We expect to hit it in about 3 to 4 weeks! We’re thankful for your support and we’ve made a lot of friends along the way. We couldn’t do it without our networks. If we can help another Blog in our sphere; along the way…let us know. All the best and keep the faith!
