Making Sense by Martin A. Cisneros November 1- November 8, 2009

Genesis 22:9-10

Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

Making Sense

Pablo Picasso was the most famous painter of the 20th century. His paintings often broke with the traditional notion of beauty and harmony. When questioned about his unusual artistic style, the distinguished painter replied, “The world today doesn’t make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?” Many people would probably agree with his observation. Often the world doesn’t seem to make sense.

Surely this thought must have passed through Abraham’s mind when God commanded him to sacrifice his son. After all, Abraham had waited 100 years for the birth of this child. But there was more involved here than paternal love. God had made significant promises with worldwide implications based on Abraham’s descendants. It simply didn’t make sense for Abraham now to take this essential link to the future welfare of the world and offer him as a sacrifice.

Fortunately, if this thought did pass through Abraham’s mind, it didn’t stay. He bound his son on the altar and lifted the sacrificial knife. He had learned from his past mistakes never to question God and never to delay obeying Him. With a faith that took captive his feelings, he prepared to do exactly as God commanded.

The lesson of Abraham is clear. It is not necessary to understand; it is only necessary to obey. The prophet Samuel reminds us, “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams” (1 Sam. 15:22). Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).

If God is calling you to take a step of faith that defies earthly wisdom, put obedience first and let logic catch up.

If you can’t understand the why, trust the Who.

Demon Slayer by Elaine Davenport Saturday, June 28, 2008

I present the following information because it is critical to you. I make no pretense that it may be hard to swallow, but it’s true.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Corinthians 4: 4

As a Prayer Warrior; I realize that we are surrounded by Spiritual Warfare. You can’t see it in the natural but it’s real. Spiritual Warfare is serious, not scary, but serious. At prayer early this morning some of the Prayer Warriors and myself were all gathered in a circle praying for people (including you) and one of the warriors was telling us about a story that came out of Africa that was true.

First, let me qualify this in case you may not have this information. There are demons assigned to countries, regions, states, cities, neighborhoods, families, ministers and many others. Satan is a liar, a thief, a murderer and a destroyer. His only hope is that you won’t believe me so that when he advances against you or your family…you won’t offer any resistance. If I were you, I wouldn’t ignore this, but do as you please.

Well, it seems that a man traveled there to Africa and as soon as he got there the demon assigned to the region killed him. We haven’t seen warfare in the U.S. like they do over there…faith either truth be told. At a church nearby, the people surrounded the man’s body and began to Praise God to the likes that none of us have ever heard. It went on and on and the dead man came back to life and got up.

That was the Introduction…here’s the message:

God sent a tiny cute petite woman by the name of Mary (not her real name) to Prayer a couple of months ago. To look at her, she just looks like a little church lady…but demons tremble when she prays and takes authority over them. She is a Demon Slayer and I will write about her much because this is information that you need to have. I’ve met many a Prayer Warrior in my life; but to my knowledge…she’s the first (but surely not the only) Demon Slayer that clearly does it! It’s another level. It’s my aim to be one too. Don’t get me wrong, I have ultimate respect for Prayer Warriors. Prayer Warriors get things done in the spirit realm. They send out prayers and get results. I see it everyday.

Mary was telling us how she saw a demon coming at her in the spirit realm when she yelled: “Come here you!” She grabbed that demon and pulled out her sword and cut him up. She said her son was watching and he yelled: “Get him Mom!” I wish you could have seen what she did. It was a combo karate, kick boxing move and she was serious. She demonstrated to all of us what she did all while speaking the Word of God to the defeated demon. She said after she finished with him, he jumped into the pit. She prays through the night and into the morning, prays without ceasing and takes Communion twice a day confessing Scriptures on Strength and Victory. Thought you might want to hear this story since it’s true and all. I could sit and listen to her tell stories about defeated demons all day long.

Pin the tail on the donkey; or not! By Elaine Davenport (Friday, May 18, 2007)

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 2 Corinthians 5: 7

I don’t know what games they play at children’s birthday parties nowadays. But, when I was a little girl we played pin the tail on the donkey. They put a blindfold over your eyes and stuck a pin in your hand (with a tail on it) and pointed you towards the picture of the donkey. After it was all over, whoever got the closest to the right spot won.

Faith is like that in some ways and in some ways it isn’t.

You can’t see where you’re going by faith. You don’t know how you’re going to get there. You may as well be blindfolded.

But, it doesn’t matter because the angels have been sent to guide you. God will make sure that you get it right. If you by some way get it wrong, you don’t lose. God is rich in mercy and He is the God of the 2ND, 3rd, 4Th, etc. chance and you’ll get more turns until you win. You just gotta believe! It’s not a game, it’s your destiny and God has designed it so that you win. Just remember.

Faith in God and not in man by Elaine Davenport

And in my preaching there were no honeyed words of wisdom, but I was dependent on the power of the Spirit to make it clear to you: So that your faith might be based not on man’s wisdom but on the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2: 4-5

Everyday, we see examples of people who put their faith in men and not God. As a result, there are murders, suicides, homelessness, tragedies, broken hearts, deterioration, lost possessions and I could go on and on. We’ve all done it at one time or another and I suppose most of us have been burned by that decision. Now I was raised to know that when I got burnt; I would not do it again. Some people like doing the same thing over and over or repeating past mistakes or behaviors; often putting their faith in men.

Today; make up your mind to put your faith in God, letting Him order your steps and hold your hand. Just trust God for this problem. He’s consistent and will not let you slip, stumble or fall.
